Thumb Birdsvile - Innamincka track updates

Looking at going from Birdsvile via Walkers Crossing to Innamincka then down th Strezlecki Track via Mt Hoplesss into the Flinders Ranges.
Two KLR's and a 1150GSA?

Anyone been this way lately and can report track conditions.

Thanks.

Walkers Crossing has been closed for a couple of years now unfortunately and by all reports not looking like opening any time soon. Someone might be able to chime in with updated info though. We did the Cordillo Downs road from Innamincka up to Birdsville at Easter in the 4WDs, great track and would be a blast on the bikes, the 20-odd KM stretch of track either side of the Woolshed was pretty rough with lots of washaways but the rest of the track was in great nick.

Walkers crossing was open for business early May because a few that went to Tugboats farewell went that way.

Cordillo Downs was a blast but the track was far from being in good nick. Big piggy was a big handful for this punter.

Shows how quick roads change out that way.

Going to Tuggers farewelll I went Via Cordillo Downs , was in reasonable condition for the most part , some deep sand in patches and some horrible deeeep and foreboding rain ruts in places North of the Cordillo House paddock gate . Coming back I took Walkers Crossing Track back into Innamincka from the Birdsville track , it was very dry and sandy for the most part and might be a struggle for a Big GS fully loaded , depends on the pilot and his experience and mental make up .

Just had a call from one of the bendigo boys. He has been in Leigh creek for a while as the track was closed due to rain. They are hoping to get going tomorow.
They are on a side car well setup but said it still might be an issue crossing some of the wet boghole areas
Cheers Flodder

Went through Walkers Crossing for Tugboats Farewell definitely some dry fine sandy stretches. I was on an unloaded GS 1150 and still found it very challenging. Heres a video with the first part being Walkers Crossing, they are some of the easier bits I was to busy riding to turn the camera on for the gnarlier bits. I'd do it again too in hindsight.
Cheers
Fati
