I wish I could, but I will be camping on warwoman at that time so busy doing nothing that I won't have time to ride.

I received orders today sending me to Ft Gordon from June through October. Does AARSE have any regularly-scheduled events? Does anyone have anything epic planned for the 4th of July weekend?

We are a very informal bunch-get together on the spur of the moment and occasionally plan 5-6 day rides. There is a local (an hour up the road) DS ride by SETRA in June. ://www.setra.org/setraorg/RaceFlyers/28.pdf
Welcome to South.

Arrived today (Saturday). I'm not sure of my schedule, but I assume I'm free next weekend and hope to hit this. It'll be my first formal DS, so I'm looking to go with others. Anyone going and care to mentor a 46-year old noob?

What are your plans? Camping vs day-tripping. Riding vs hauling. etc. I have camping gear and a hitch hauler, so I'm flexible.

BTW, what are DS rides like down here? The ones in Ohio are known to be pretty tough (not my video).

Well not sure but this was one of the last rides I was on.

Here's some pictures from the time I went up there a few years ago.
http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=575827

They've got some really nice single track where everyone meets. I think I went up on Saturday and rode the loop 2-3 times. That was more than enough on the XRL. Then Sunday there was some dirt roads that eventually led to another single track loop you could ride as much as you wanted, lunch under a pavilion there at the single track and then ride back.

Your 250 will be perfect for it.

Tim, an inmate on here, is up there usually. Really nice guy who can probably show you around too. And dam, just realized I still have his roll chart!

Oh, and here's some video someone made a few years back - http://vimeo.com/25852428

Going to Ruth's for breakfast, Street and Trail for chain lube (storing the bike outside sucks!), and then going exploring. Can anyone recommend some dirt within a short ride?

ETA: I'm back. Did 100 miles in and around the south end of the Long Cane District of Sumter National Forest. FR 658C was nicely rutted.

If anyone sees me tomorrow at Long Cane, feel free to grab me and say, "Follow me." I'll be wearing and riding:

Riding

I would like to get together with some of you guys and ride. Most of my Dual Sport riding I do in the mountains of N. Georgia, N.C. and Tenn. I'm not new to the area, I've lived here for the past 29 years. I currently live in the Appling area (Winfield). I ride a KTM525EXC (07) so the more dirt the better.

Can anyone give me a best guess as to how long it takes to ride from Augusta to Robbinsville, NC on the southeast leg of the TET-South? From I-20, I'm estimating it's about 330 miles, but I have no idea how much gravel that includes. I'm not sure if I'm leaving tomorrow or Thursday and I'm trying to determine a start time / potential camping risk if I don't make it there by dark.
