i have the baby bro to the z1k, a 2006 z750s.

it has been a rock solid, very fun ride for the 10 months/3k miles i have owned it.

after not riding for 35 years, the z750s was exactly what i needed.

yup yup.

i use the bike to commute into manhattan 2-3 times a week and do solo runs up and back into the hudson valley north of nyc.

if i could figure out how to post pictures, i'd share some very unprofessional pix.

(southwade has REALLY raised the bar on z1k pix!)

ymmv.

be well.

rob

Well, pulled the trigger and traded in my Versys for an (almost) new 2012 Z1000 with 722 miles on it. Got a great deal on both the trade in value of my Versys and the price on the Z. Got 4K for my Versys, which is 300 less than what I paid for it when I bought it from a guy on CraigsList a few years ago. The price for the Z was set at 8,499. So all told I ended up getting an OTD cost of 4,800 with tax and whatnot.

I'm super happy with it. Smooth, planted, torquey, comfortable, and all around fun. Excited to spend my summer on it and my WR250X

Somebody say Z1000?! I bought my black/red '03 from my brother in Nov. 2009.My brother had it for several years,he put braded lines and EBC pads, rear fender eliminator,Muzzy pipe with GSXR1000 muffler, blacked out all the "pink" stuff.Made it pretty stealthy. When I bought it,I lowered it,bolt on extensions,Power Commander,Shinko's and 520 chain.THEN I bracket raced it for 3 full seasons. This is one of my all time favorite bikes! Studly good looking, great torque, good topend, and bullet proof! It gets hot, humid and always a head wind here in Kansas.I started out running 10.80's @ 124 and wittled it down to 10.27's @ 131.Foot shifting for over 300 passes. Bike can be seen on www.dragbike.com [jimmer] and www.z1000forum.com[ jimroid] I reluctantly sold it 2 weeks ago to finance some other stuff.I will definetly miss this one. Jim

That'd be tough... parts connect to other parts. It's kind of a puzzle.

Yeah, stark naked isn't really an option. Fork covers are holding on the front fender, and the fairings contain the directionals, nevermind all of the ugly bits underneath them.
