Despite the "gentleman" part, I believe he means you.
Is there a ceremony or something where I hand over the "#1" sticker from last year?

It's a secret ceremony, so all I can tell you is it involves Crowbait, a live badger, and handcuffs. You can bring your own handcuffs if you prefer.

I had the number 1 plate a couple years ago, I suggest bringing your own handcuffs

I dunno... the badger seems to enjoy it.

I don't remember if anyone camped over Saturday night last year, but everyone is certainly welcome to.

Then cruise on down to Leaf River in the morning, guzzling coffee and juice all the way, in hopes that the hangover is mostly gone by the time you hit the trail!

I plan to camp over saturday night as well. But then, that was my plan last year too. heated trailer this year makes it more likely
If need be, I might be able to scrounge up some firewood

This may be a silly question, but what's the chances that a 40 year old street bike on knobbies could make it through the Bucky ride? And, would a guy be insane to try it?

I was telling my brother about the ride and he's up for it. But, the only bike he has is an 1800 VTX. Pretty sure that won't make it.

The only other bike I have that could possibly manage is this 1971 CB350:

It's pretty light. It's reliable. And, it's street legal. But, I don't know if it's up for the challenge. Any thoughts from you Bucky Vets?

If you can find knobbies for it, or at least a fitment of some form of 50/50 rubber, ride it. If you stay out of the hero sections, and take it easy so the suspension doesn't throw you on your head, you should be fine. If those stock headers are in great shape, you run the risk of them not being so great.

It wasn't that long ago that we used to run around on the CL Scrambler versions of those CBs and most of us survived. Kinda.

It's been done! Last year - hero sections, too!

Granted, it has scrambler pipes on it, but I don't think that made too much difference.

When my brother and I were growing up, CL350's are what we used as dirt bikes. I don't think we had the benefit of knobbies.

My 350 already has Shinko 244's front and rear:

The headers are in pretty good shape, but I've got a pair of CL headers that I'm planning on putting on her if I ever source some suitable mufflers, and get time to make a bracket.

I've gotten the old bike up to snuff mechanically, but I haven't made her pretty. So, I'm not concerned about bumps or bruises!

You're mostly there then. I'd ride it.

Can't be any worse than handcuffs. And a live badger.
