Can anyone reccomend a good campsite in door county, WI? Preferably no further out then the middle of the peninsula.

Thanks

Peninsula State park is a great place to camp with tons of amenities near by. Located in Fish Creek, which is pretty much right in the middle, very touristy area, plenty of things to see and do

Potowatomi state park is also very nice as well, just a few miles from Sturgeon Bay

There are a few camp grounds in the area, but most cater to campers. So if you don't mind shackin up between a couple of motor homes, I can toss out a few names for those as well.

Best bet is the state parks if you can get in. Book online. Really isn't a bad site at either place. Bring bug spray thou

The whole county is only 50-60 miles long (depending on how u look at it) and with little towns scattered on both sides, your always close to something

PM me if you need more info, glad to help. Lived here since 79

+1 on Potawatomi, very nice campsite. Stayed there a couple of times last year.

OP said no more than mid way up the peninsula Wash Island is way past the top. Nice area, but Rock Island is better for tent camping

Forgot to mention that both state parks are on the water, can't get much better than that.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. Looks like we will shoot for the Potowatomi area on the way back down the Door to get us setup to make it to Munising the next day. There was the main state park and another site on the Eastern edge of the park that looked nice.
