I'm working on a track from MTRA's ground at Bixby to Arkansas and back. Kind of a southern extension of the SBR and "Link's Easter Adventure Ride". That could be another alternative rather than the same old thing. I had a start on it, them got side tracked working on the PHBR the last 2 years, Maybe now that that's 'bout complete and I'm retired I can concentrate on finishing this new quest. Anyone want to help?

At this point anything goes, I've only got started. I wanted to cross the river at Akers, (using non-SBR tracks to get there) so Glade Top and Skyline are in range and in the right direction. Should be plenty of camping around Bull Shoals Lake and motels in Theodosia, for the end of day one. It's certainly plausible.

Any Suttons Bluff experts around here? I've never been riding in the Mark Twain Forrest but Id like to join some friends who will be riding ATV's next weekend and have a few questions.

1. Are the proper permits easily available the day off?
2. The bike in question is a DRZsm plated and insured with DOT 17" tires but I also have an 18"/21" combo without DOT tires. I'd prefer to run the knobbies offroad but then its "technically" not street legal. Which is recommended for this facility considering legality and terrain?
3. I have a spark arrestor if needed, more than likely I'm sure?
4. Do two wheelers need a flag?
5. Any potential surprises?

Thanks for any insight to these issues
Dustin

Don't worry about "street legal". Headlight, taillight, license plate is all you need. Headlight, taillight, won't need to work, plate won't need to be registered to the bike but will need to be current. You will need a spark arrestor, or at least the stamped "USFS APPROVED" part of the pipe. I once cut that part off an old pipe and TIG welded it to a MX bike's pipe. So that's what they checked for last time I was checked. You don't need a flag on a bike. You can call the FS on where to get permits but you could get them at a store in Centerville, and at the campground. I think you could get them in Lesterville also. I quit buying the permits years ago. That help?
