I would be down for that, Sat could start by 2:00 and Sun all morning. Will be staying on North Shore.

Big Todd and I will pre-run some of last years Big Bear Run route.

Self-sufficient, accountable riders with at least Intermediate skills. Bring a well running bike, water, lunch, tubes, water, tools, GPS, water, and radio if you have one. I'll be on D37 freqs.

FYI, Redondo Ridge is not noob friendly

Meet Sunday, June 2nd at 7:00am at Starbucks in Big Bear, riding at 7:30am.

Route: generally stuff to the west, riding Redondo Ridge from east to west, then Crab Flats and down to the T-6 bridge. Flip it and come back up to Crab Flats, then likely easy dirt back to Big Bear, as Todd needs to be back by 2p. I can ride all day but we can make the call at T-6.

Post up here if you plan to join us.

Generally, people post to this thread when they are riding in this general area. Call it from about Cajon Pass to Arrowhead/Big Bear.

This particular route is NOT big bike or noob friendly. Actually, some if it is but Redondo Ridge is not, unless your name is Riceless

Actually it's just the rocks getting to the crossing that looks gnarly. We took a big group of noobs across and up the trail and only one noob drowned his bike. He bought a Ktm and put an auto clutch in pronto. Nfsw drowned his xr400 also. We got both bikes running and everyone cleared the goat trail no problem. Here's the same crossing but with a lot more water flowing. Was on my dr650 that time.

I did that loop on my GSA last year and took shit from all the hardcore single track guys for months. That said, I would not reccomend that loop to a new rider on any bike, let alone your new GS.

Hey everybody, I'm back

Flew home from India last tuesday (and boy are my arms tired, ba-da bump )
Just recuperating and layin' low since then

Managed to get out for a ride up to Big Bear on sunday with Aaron (speedygee68), his soon-to-head-off-to-college son Elias, and my friend Bobby (son of passed friend Bob).

Met up over in Highland, then got off to a false start when I discovered my clutch slave cyl had blown its o-ring. No worries, I had all the necessary fixin's

Back on our way, a short run up Hwy330, then turn off on Alder Creek Rd (1N09).

Bobby

Elias (on Aaron's Haski)

Aaron (on his new Austrian sweetness)

This dude raced me for quite awhile, but couldn't out run the mighty 950

Stopping to enjoy the view.

Roads were dry and dusty, but everyone kept a good pace.

Bobby flying the BRP at Keller Cliffs.

Stopped at Bear Creek for a break...

... and a chance to rinse off some dust in the cool water.

Moving on towards Big Bear.

Big A chasing little E through seven Pines Meadow (1N64).

Halfway up a very rocky and sandy Clarks Grade (1N54).

Over the top, drifted our way across Grandview, then down into Big Bear for lunch
Arrived just in time to meet Ersin, Gi, and my new-to-me niece at Azteca (Sorry, no foodie pics).

Back on the road with full tummies.

We circled 'round the west end of the lake towards Fawnskin.

I had thought maybe to run up to Butler Peak, but gate was still closed (with a guard on duty) so we continued on to Big Pine Flat (3N14).
I explained the options from there - 3N16 to Green Valley Lake or 3N14 to Hesperia - and everyone voted for the Hi Dez.

Boby approaching Little Pine Flat.

Elias.

Aaron

Another quick stop to enjoy the view.

Good place for my bike to turn 75k miles

On down to Roundup and a stretch of pavement over towards Silverwood where we found Hwy173 really was closed up to Pinnacles. Bummer.

Ah well... day was getting long and it was time to start heading for home.

West on Hwy138, then one last stretch of dirt over Elliot Ranch / Cleghorn to I15.

Thanks guys!
That was a great way to get back in the saddle

-M
