It has been significantly graded, is extremely soft, and has the center section rerouted so it doesnt cross the creeks to often. The trail now comes out above the bus (which is no longer there). There are no silt fences, significant drainage areas, rip rap, or anything to slow overflow down or to keep any silt out of the creek and it will be very loose and soft for quite sometime.
I understand that improvements may have needed to occur to the trail to make it easier for FS access or other needs but I also understand that this type of work would never have been allowed if it were a private contractor
Its a shame.
On the other hand it was a gorgeous day for a ride!

If this rain doesn't stop soon I'm going to have to trade my bike for a canoe or kayak.

I cannot remember a wetter spring/summer. It has definitely cut down on the riding and smallmouth fishing.

I have two canoes...may have to put one on the roof of the house just in case.

I led a BMW ROK dualsport ride through the Gap on Sunday. Traffic was light because of the dodgy weather but we encountered literally no delay getting through the one-lane section. It might be a little worse during heavy traffic but I don't think it'll ever be really bad.

So route around Deal's Gap because of the usual bozo factor, not because of the one-lane thing.

Tomorrow is the last Tuesday of the month and the weather is looking good. Time Warp should be full of great vintage bike(r)s and us modern day gawkers. Come on out and say hi and ogle some really nice bikes.

Does anyone have information on how the Ride for Kids went yesterday?

I've updated the first page with a couple new ride reports. Please let me know if you come across reports in our area or by people who live here no matter where they went. There's been some additional reports for the State Park Collaboration. Make sure you check those out!

The Tag Thread has gotten a bit stagnant again and is currently in a really great place to ride...especially with the weather we've had and should have this week. If you'd like to get involved and aren't sure how to get your feet wet, let me know and I'd be happy to head out that way with you.

This year's Knoxville Ride for Kids was blessed with perfect weather yet sadly, turnout was not great. The event raised $63,357 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. If you can, plan to make time for this next year. It's both heartbreaking and joyous and the PBTF has a proven history of getting the money where it's needed.

For the last two years I've carried Molly, the daughter of one of the oncologists at East Tennessee Children's Hospital, in my sidecar.

Make room in your calendar August 17-18 and head over to the Trials Training Center in Sequatchie for the 2013 Tennessee Knockout. It's an extreme endurocross (think trials terrain on 450s) event and it's completely amazing to watch. Here's this year's flyer, details are at tennesseeknockoutenduro.com.

And this is a short movie about the 2012 TKO. Be sure to watch the Flaming Beta at the 4:30 mark.

Ah yes, the good ole flamin' Beta. A group of us were not too far from that when people started throwing leaves on the bike to put it out..... immediately thought "uhhhhh... leaves are flammable!"

I think I will be there again this year, anyone else planning on riding down on Sunday? Matt? Troy? Jeff? Bueller?

Definitely planning to head down this year. I'm not sure about Sat or Sun at this point though.
