Cheers.
No such luck!
I'm ready to throw the towel in, the garage have had it for 2 months now and they are out of ideas. I went to see them yesterday and they said they were going to give the 'readings' from the multimeter to the company that re-wound the generator to see if they have any idea, but they can't work out why it won't start...

Anyone in/around London looking for a project bike?

Hi to all.
Some may recall that I popped in on your thread a few months back to post a couple of photos of Canadian DR Bigs, (post number 14304)
Well I'm back now with photos of my very own recently acquired 1989 DR750. I didn't think I would ever find one close enough to home and at a price I could afford but this bike showed up a few weeks ago on a Canadian classified website. The seller was located about 550 kilometers from me and what sealed the deal was the fact he was looking for some wood working equipment. I had several pieces of equipment that I haven't used in five years and was anxious to see them go to a good home. We worked out the details and on Monday I made the trip.

As you can see, she is pretty rough. But runs ok. I'm making a list and starting to order some of the most needed items. My plan is to get the bike into good mechanical condition including ready for our required safety inspection. The cosmetics will have to wait for now.

Today I ordered a new Avon Gripster rear tire, (to match the front) as well as the stock throttle assembly and some rear brake pads. The seller provided new front pads. I need to remove, clean and paint the exhaust system as well as make up something to replace the missing heat shield. I have the missing side cover to install once the heat shield is on.
The seller only had the bike a short time and never rode it. He has little knowledge of the history. The odometer shows 47000 kilometers so I'll go through everything before riding too far.
The good news is with the seat rubber dampers removed I can touch the ground, (barely) so I've managed a little ride around my back yard but no further yet.
First question I have --- should I be checking the balancer chain adjustment at this age?
I'll have many more questions for you I'm sure and will keep you updated with any progress or problems.

thanks for an excellent thread and I look forward to learning more about my new bike.

Relic

Relic's new bike

Congratulations Relic on the new-to-you DR BIG. Between you, North Rider and Finndian there is now a complete set of Canadian-spec BIGs in Northern Ontario. Maybe all 3 will make it to next year's NOFAR rally! If I hadn't sold my 800 we would have 13% of all the BIGs ever sold in Canada in our little group.

Thanks Steve. I wasn't sure if you had sold yours or not.
So 13 % eh? My math is not that good...you know how many Bigs were sold in Canada? 54? Is that all?
Nearly as rare as my Panther!

Hi mates, I have recently bought on ebay a full set of Givi side panniers with frames without mounting hardware.
I can't figure out how to mount the frames, can someone with those show me a picture? I suspect they are slightly bent

thanks!

Don"t over tighten the balancer chain or you will f..k it up ,there are two different methods for adjusting it ,do a bit of reading before adjusting it ,you may want to check out another DR site we use http://www.drbig.info/forum/

sorry the battery in my callipers is flat, just found this site with measurements,
http://stores.ebay.com/Motorcycle-Pa...sid=1067012968
try Metalgear Queensland.
the sprocket is in wrong position - the flat side must be in front!!!

we sell the GPR for the DR BIG
but not all versions (GPR offer a lot of shit)
we developed the GPR exhaust for the dr big
but in last time dealer and gpr itself combiened our tube with a lot of bad damoers
so you loose power or the exhaust will burn after a full throttle tour....
