I would have liked to bring the dualsport up there but with a thousand road miles to do the big bike is going.

Thanks! And yes, we'll make that loop, do some side trips, visit the lakes and camping areas. Perry said to check out Bald Mt. and Shuteye Peak lookouts. And some jeep and bike trails but on the big bikes we won't be able to get too crazy.

Any camping suggestions? We've got Monday and Tues nights - adventure bikes, loaded. Would be nice to dump the panniers at camp and explore. That might me the way to go for our middle day, head home the next.

Any gas up there? Probably at the lake resorts?

Next trip I'm bringing the big dirtbike.

remember when coming up that we have a campfire ban in effect and if camping you should have a permit for stoves and gas lantern's

camping in the area

About that...there are campgrounds on the western shore of Bass Lake. There is a nice quiet campground on a little creek up in the mountains east of Bass Lake off Central Camp road called Gaggs Campground. Gaggs has spots and tables but not sure about water or bathrooms. Miami trails area has spots and dirtroad access to Yosemite. Whiskey Creek. Shaver. Huntington. I think there are still cabins for rent at Jones Store...maybe. Mammoth Pools. Now I am just rambling....tons of places...spectacular places.

Hope this helps...Matt

PM me if you want more details or info....I am from Redding but my aunt and uncle have a place at Bass Lake and I ride there often.

Oh yea and lots of sports of the Sierra National Scenic Byway....some near rivers with sick granite bowl swimming holes...now I am gettin excited

Will the new fire restrictions affect the routes?

Got my registration receipt a few days ago, really looking forward to this. Haven't camped off the bike since...Bahia de Los Angeles.

Will the GPS tracks be emailed? Hoping to get them loaded and studied a bit before I head out on Friday.

no and if you are in a official FS campground fires are allowed.. just no fires in dispersed camping (remote)
