thanks. this might be the "best" shot I got in the 2 weeks. I wish I had done more panning shots because when you see the shots the guys with the BIG len's get you want to take your camera and throw it away. one of the things you're always hearing when you're talking or asking about how to take pictures is backround. this one broke the rule big time but when you're shooting the nationals for the first time you don't want to break their big rule of crossing a hot track so you can kind of get painted into a corner. even when it's cloudy I still try to shoot with the sun if possible and this turn set up nice for panning with the sun even though it was overcast. backround be damned this is my favorite shot from the Budds/Southwick. Or at least one of them...
thanks! you must like that part of the track that's where I saw you last year. hopefully they'll get it all sorted out and there will be a next year..
Zach Osborne, Tomac, Dungey in the back waiting their turn. Matt Wozney who runs MXPTV from left. He seems to have the life, I think he does all the Nationals, SX, Loretta's, etc. Not a bad way to spend your time..
RV's team truck. RV's motorhome for down time seclusion. I don't know if they rent these locally or have someone drive them from race to race.
from Don Emde's facebook, posted today. today is the 99th anniversary of the first Dodge City 300. that thing was like a 2.5 3 mile oval. Dusty. Hot. No tear offs. But they still used a tent.
The panning shots are great, especially in sand or mud with so much shit flying. Hope you can get in there as close at some other venues in the future.
