USA to South America Motorcycle Presenation

Hey folks,

I thought I'd share this with you all. I'm giving a few presentations at public libraries around the state of CA. I'll share my photos and stories from my ride to Ushuaia, Argentina. All presentations are at the local public libraries and admission is free. Hope to meet some of you inmates!

June 5, 2013 - South San Francisco, CA 1pm (Private Function)
June 5, 2013 - Cupertino, CA 7pm
August 24, 2013 - Carson Valley, NV (Lake Tahoe) at the Adventure Motorcycle Ride & Rendezvous 4pm.

October 25-26, 2013 - Cambria, CA at the Horizons Unlimited Event (Note, this is not a free event)

Quote:
In October 2009, Cupertino resident Ben Slavin left home on his motorcycle on the first leg of a remarkable journey through Central and South America. Six months and 23,000 miles through 15 countries later, he stopped in Ushuaia Argentina, the southernmost city in the world.

Come and see Ben’s photos and hear his stories. Whether you’re an armchair traveler, a motorcycle enthusiast or if you’ve ever dreamed of taking the time off for an extended journey through your favorite continent in the world, don’t miss this fascinating evening. If you would like to know even more than can be covered in an hour, read Ben’s account of the trip on his blog, www.AFewMoreMiles.com.

Ben is no stranger to traveling by motorcycle, and has produced films about his motorcycle travels through Mexico and Colombia.
Before moving to CA, I lived in NH and did many presentations - Check out the history: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=660224

Will definitely keep an eye out for when you're in the LA-San Bernardino county area.

I might just have something lined up in July/August. I'll keep this thread updated. Thanks!

Cool pictures, Ben! I am sorry I can't make the presentation.

Do you ever speak at Cycle Specialties in Modesto? I know they have presentations like that sometimes, as well as group adv rides.

There is something shaping up for the first weekend in August in Los Angeles. It's not quite firmed up just yet, but I'll keep you posted.

Lake Tahoe

Hey guys,

I'll be giving a talk at on August 23 at the Carson Valley / Lake Tahoe Adventure Motorcycle Ride & Rendezvous. It's going to be a spin on my normal travel presentation. This event does cost money but is part of the much larger weekend festivities. Here's a snippet from the event organizers:

Quote:
Are you dreaming of a really big motorcycle adventure? Are you planning one? Wondering about all the unknowns? Not quite sure what to do when you see topes in the road ahead?

Ben Slavin has ridden extensively throughout Latin America and produced several motorcycle documentaries including the popular Motorcycle Mexico and The New World Ride. Ben will be joining us in August at the Carson Tahoe Adventure Moto and sharing what he as learned about staying safe, happy and healthy on the road in a presentation he calls "I Wish I'd Known That!"

Date Change: August 24, 2013

Time change: I'll be presenting at the Carson Valley / Lake Tahoe Moto on Saturday August 24 at 4pm. It won't be my standard "ride-report-style" presentation and instead I'll be sharing stories of all the mistakes I made a long the way in a presentation titled "I wish I'd known that!" It's great preparation if you're planning a big trip. I promise lots of Laughs, a bunch of Wows, a few Oh My Gods and at least one This Is So Damn Embarrassing, I Can't Believe He's Telling This Story In Public...

Hope to see you there!

Hey TUCKERS. I'd love to come down and present, if you have any connections there, send them my way. There's a contact form on my blog at http://www.AFewMoreMiles.com

I don't really have any influence in connections.

I guess you would just canvass motorcycle stores. BMW dealerships seem to be up for stuff.

I don't know what avenue to pursue at the library, I'll go ask.
