Oh one more thing I'd like to add? It is also unclear what Basecamp feature for Android is capable of, too? As of now, the Basecamp feature for iOS is not fully functional.

That is not correct, the lighting to USB adapter will work with many (but not all) USB devices...for example I use one successfully with a electric guitar to USB cord and my ipad mini and GarageBand

Webmonstro,

Yes I understand what you are trying to say. However as I was saying, not all android tablet have USB function. You do realize that some tablet doesn't have usb port, and I think you need a 4.0 or higher version to work with USB. And please do keep in mind that all GPS can NOT read TRACKS from SD card. And more importantly, Basecamp for Android is not fully functional!

Yes, I agree. It would be nice to have a tablet (android or iOS) that can do all this. I know it will happen one day so it is just a matter of time before it will happen!

First, yes you can transfer data from iPad to GPS by using AirStash and insert SD card into AirStash then connect it to iPad wirelessly and process the transfer so it is doable. However I decided to abort because GPS can't read tracks from SD card. Personally, I'd prefer iPad over Android tablet because I can carry Apple wireless keyboard which is about the same size as mini iPad and I can put them together into a portfolio leather case along with important documents.

The GPS can connect to other GPS (62 series, 78 series, eTrek, Oregon, Montana and few certain GPS) and share data wirelessly. Bluetooth will not work. I hope this help?

Edit: I wanted to add that yes you can transfer waypoints and maps from iPad and probably Android tablets to SD card and insert into your GPS then all is good. No problem. Just not the tracks. However the Basecamp for iPad and Android is not fully functional so you have to work on a very limit feature and the loop around this is to prepare the mapping and waypoints at home on your PC then store file on tablet to transfer into SD card under folder 'Garmin'.

I sold my 60CSx last week and just got Montana this week so if Montana can store all the tracks I got planned for my RTW trip, then maybe I won't need to worry about how to transfer tracks. Will see.
