places to ride in NW Arizona

I will be visiting family in Northwest Az. (Show Low) I would like to hear about any favorite paved roads you guys know about. I will be 66 y. o. on July 26 and I think riding Route 66 would be appropriate, but it may be too hot. The higher elevations are always fun.
Thanks in Advance

Tony, First off, Show Low is in Eastern AZ. and it's nice and cool up there.
The rest of rte 66 will vary depending on where you are. Rte 191 is a favorite summer ride for cooler temps in East AZ. Get to know what altitude your riding in and be prepared for torrential downpours and lightning in the monsoon season. (Large hail as well, so wear a helmet!)

You are absolutely right. Thanks for correcting my error. I haven't been to Az in 40 years. I'm sure I will learn quite a lot.

Point and shoot. Once your in Show Low, virtually any road will lead you in the right direction. 191 is great. Just ride in any direction and you'll basically begin to lose elevation, so turn around when you get hot.

I like 89A from Oak Creek thru Sadona and Jerome over Mingus MTN. From Sholow its a nice ride down thru Strawberry to 260. Did a lot of this yesterday dodging thunderstorms. Got a little wet but it was great.
