I'm saddened and wish that I too made the chance to reconnect with Tib in Colombia when I went through there.

Rest in peace brother and ride the heavens and the sky!

Farewell

I can say that Tiberio and I were friends. We met when he stayed at my place for a few days as he was riding North a few years back. We rode bikes together, spent many hours talking about our travels and life in general.

Then we met again in Creel and picked up where we left off like no time had passed.

Finally I met him in Medellín, where he helped my friend and travel companion fix his badly broken bike.

I know I was fortunate to spend so much time with him. This was a generous, intelligent, and funny guy. Colombia has lost a tiny bit of it's moto magic...

Thanks to all who wrote in this thread... good to be part of such a community.

Balam

Here's a foto of Tibe taken at the '03 HU meeting in Creel. He and I were friends and he and his wife Paulina have stayed at our home. Dan

Great loss

After inquiring about my problem on Advrider Tiberio offered his assistance and ended up driving 450 miles from Medellin to come get me and take me back to his shop.

Tiberio helped dozens of foreign riders like this. He had a great spirit and was a great motorcycle ambassador for Colombia. His English was perfect from having completed university in Wisconsin and later having lived in Washington for a few years.

If you have a story about Tiberio or just nice riding photos of Colombia then please post them.

Yes a great loss. I had the fortune of meeting him on the first meeting of HU in Creel Copper Canyon.

Was of the kind of person you instantly feel conforting to chat, the one that you want to stablish a friendship. RIP

Its been 5 years since Tiby passed away...

Hi, fellow riders,

Its already 5 years since Tiberio passed away. I didn't want this day to go by without remembering Tiby. I knew him for a short time but certainly learned a whole lot from him. Maybe the most knowledgeable person in motorcycling I have ever known. I sure miss him whenever I need that piece of advice only a very experienced person can give you... RIP Tibejara.

A couple of pictures of him on a big trip (30+ bikes) to San José del Guaviare, Colombia on June-2006:
