And more: why drop a penny (with Lincoln's head) on the grave of his murderer?

Nope, I didn't leave a penny, but the pennies are like a middle finger to J.W. Booth, desecrating his grave.

Myers Lake of Mayberry

I’ve always wondered where this lake was. And it was not easy to find.

The famous Myers Lake on the Andy Griffith Show, in the introduction scene and 5 or 6 episodes were filmed at Myers Lake. Found it on a ride last week in Frazer Canyon Park. Over the distant hillside is downtown Los Angeles, to the right is Bellair, the most exclusive residential neighborhood of LA. Just a few miles from the Hollywood sign. Beverly Hills is just blocks away…I’d always assumed it was in North Carolina. The lake has since eroded and dried up and is now a concrete retention pond.

Which actually misses the mark by about 15 miles.

Geographic Center of Northern Hemisphere....

Not exact due to the "bulge" of the Earth at the equator, but who doesn't? So close enough...

Just past above marker...

Just east of above picture ..... they hit 4 feet of snow and camped for 27 days.

Actual campsite at Long Day camp:

Just past Long Day campsite...to the left the famous Lolo Trail (aka Lolo Motoring Highway), straight Missoula, MT.
