GPSMan Rides A Beta

The weather was great today so Wade, Jimmy and I headed off to the river for some action. The trails were tight but Wade made short work of them on the DR350...after he let some air out of the rear tire

The Beta was looking great after having her rear end glued back on

Is this thing for real ?

Wade climbing...

Jimmy attacking a small bank

After pushing the big 3fiddy through some pretty tight terrain which included climbing over some fallen trees, getting up a couple of near vertical banks and picking the DR up a few times we were all pretty knackered...Suffice it to say Wade was the most knackeredest

An awesome day on the bikes, but need to get waaaaay fitter !!

Had the most fun I have had on a motorcycle in a long time!

A million thanks for the opportunity....

You would think over a 35+ years of riding motorcycles I have never thrown a leg over a trials bike

All I can say is if you have not had the opportunity you owe it to yourself to give it a go.....Nothing But Fun!!!!!!!

Thanks Again ~ Marty!

Didn't think it would be your thing at all Wade, mind you never tried it so will have to give it a go one day and see for myself what all the fuss is about.

These bikes are curiously addictive; I don't imagine they would be everyone's cup of tea but if you get the chance I'd highly recommend taking one for a spin.

The 690 is sporting some battle scars from a recent riding incident....Lucky the break pedal is made from liquorish or might have broken off. Hopefully it will bend back into shape? A new one is $140.00

...a few more scratches to sand off the Safari tank. Don't know how those flash looking Rally Raid EVO tanks would have stood up to this punishment?

Out and about this afternoon. The Rev3's ability to climb hills and get over obstacles is still amazing me. Even with my limited skill set we managed to get in and out of places that would have been way scary on trail bike....well if I was riding it in anycase

Bugger, I am having to replace my rear wheel bearings (again), first lot lasted nearly 50,000km, but the new ones (proper KTM bearings) have only lasted about 10,000km, apparently it is my fault for going off-road.

FAG bearings....
Pop the seal out off one side & pack with a good grease put the seal back in..
Don't be tempted to use a friction reduceing additive.. bearings
require friction to work... It's friction that makes the balls roll instead of skidding in the races..

Had a very productive day in the shed today....working on bikes is so therapeutic . Anywho...fitted new chain on the 690, so now just need my chain guard to turn up from Austria and the front sprocket case saver to arrive from the Rally Raid UK lads and the 690 will be sweet for summer adventuring

Also replaced both front fork seals on the Rev3 which was the first time I'd done forks seals myself. Its amazing what a good clean and some new oil does for your forks - its a different bike !

While I had the front wheel off I noticed one of the bearings was a little sad so followed Pete's advice and whipped off the covers and repacked em with grease...just like new now....thanks for the tip Pete

A 1200C as well. MarkS will be excited. He has very special feelings about those.
