I've been a bunch of times. If I'm in the area and on a new to me bike I will ride far enough to get a photo of me on my current bike. If there's traffic I usually turn around. This year we ran into a couple from Italy as we were leaving the Asheville BMW rally who didn't speak much english and asked for directions to Deals Gap. So we said follow us. Since I had them with us we ran the whole thing.

We spent the day with them and have tentative plans to meet them and he will show us his backyard in the Italy, "the Dolomites." Daniela and Gigi (short for Luigi). I use my toes as "curb feelers" on a new bike until i get used to it. Gigi makes shoes.

While the Dragon has gotten very busy on weekends and stays quite busy through the summer weeks, there are still times that it is very empty. I went through southbound a few weeks ago later in the day and had a clean pass with no other vehicles in my lane all the way through.

Coming back through I encountered one other vehicle, and he pulled over within 50 yards of my catching up to him.

It was a great ride, sun shining through the trees, and temperatures warm enough to make sure the tires were sticking really well.

These moments do still happen. The quietest times to ride the Dragon are **** ******* to **** *** ****** and also on ***** from *** to ****. You pretty much have the road to yourself at those times.

I used to do that... Look at my avatar close and you can see it... until someone told me how he snapped his ankle doing that. Sucked it right under and twisted it backwards.

Keep your toes on your pegs.

So I see. The green, and the blue (with red soles), shoes are quite stylish. :)

I'm hoping to find it one of those days. I rode to work on 30 May on my BMW and I was stuck behind just about every tourist on a H-D. Hopefully, once the "riding season" starts coming to an end, I can make a clean run through there at my pace.

Can't impound vehicles for much any more. I've cited 3 semis with 53' trailers. Two made it to the summit from the east side, though both had damage to their trailers. I made them go back the way they came, as there is no way they would have made it down the west side. The third crashed into another car and got stuck, just before the summit, on the east side. Cite plus a huge tow bill.

Oh and there is an over length alarm on the east side as well. It will notify ODOT on anything over 35'. ODOT will call OSP or DCSO.

Guess I'm the only one that thinks the shoes looks stupid! I'll take leather any day.

His show is only airing in Europe, so unless you buy the DVD and airtime I think we are safe.

I am glad he still has a show going. I wish my free TV stations aired bike shows. I might watch TV then.
Until then I just hang out on ADVRider and YouTube :-)

And Europe roads put the best we have to offer to shame. The Europeans I have known, come here to ride cruisers down Rt 66, not for twisty roads.

You don't want your friends to find out you dream of riding cruisers hours on end on arrow straight, flat roads??
