I don't know what a 'skin' is but this is how I viewed the file.

1) click on the link
2) the file download box opens....click save, this put it on my desktop
3) open another window and search for GPS visualizer.com
4) follow the instruction: browse to find the file, it wont convert to the Google earth so make the choice in the middle, that is (convert to:) GPX file, then click convert.
5) a new window will open with the rusulting link for the new file, click the file link and save it.
6) the file is now on your desktop, drag and drop it on top of your Google earth icon
7) wait for the file to load into Google Earth
8) Enjoy..
9) Dream of the day you too can take this ride...

At the bottom of each individual post if there is an attachment it will show up there. I linked it above in my post, and here it is again. Hope this helps.

Great report mars.
That closed road SW of Hugo was dry when we rode it; bet it was lots of fun with some moisture.
Good stuff.

I've ridden the K trail many times, camping at Clayton Lake State Park. Where we get on the trail from the park it's fairly technical. If any new riders go with us that's the first place we take them. They find out very fast if they should be riding with us. In some areas it's like riding on broken bowling balls. I rode my 2007 KLR in '07 and '08, it's doable on a KLR but if you have a better choice leave the KLR at camp. We attend the annual dual sport ride in the fall at the State Park.

That's my green KLX250S, bored to 351cc, pumper carb, full FMF pipe, almost enough horsepower and I can pick it up before the camera's come out.

There are areas we go that make this look like the easy part. This is near the K trail. KLR rider dusts the crashed CR rider.
I can't say this enough times, if you don't know the area.......BUY THE 10 DOLLAR PERMIT! When riding around the Clayton area.
Where I like to ride you don't need the permit. It's very easy to stray into the permit riding areas though. The fine for no permit is near $200.

Great info. This looks like the one trail that has peaked my interest. Is the western half harder than the eastern part?

The one and only time I rode the k trail was during the fall dual sport ride and we picked up the trail right outside camp and some how we got off the trail without knowing we had and were riding down a dirt road that I thought was k trail until the group was halted by a not too happy old codger in a side by side carrying a rifle and had a mean dog as a passenger. He not so politely told us we were on his land and road. He escorted us back to a trail leading somewhere else. All I'm saying is that it is easy to get off the trail and into trouble!
I would not attempt to ride parts of the trail on my F800, but it was lots of fun on my 250. Nor would I ride the trail alone on any size bike, because you can find yourself on the ground with your head pointing down hill and the bike pinning you down! DAMHIK
