The first ever "Ride way to fast on a dirt road with a State Trooper" event.

Met with ericdb7g and his buddy David in Van Buren Saturday morning.

Our route

Overlooking the Mulberry

Lunch at Oark
Eric

David

David had an issue with his bike dying. We stop and checked the fuel and shut off valve. Seemed ok and ran fine for a couple of miles then it died and would only start in neutral. The kickstand switch wire had rubed on the chain.

After the repair. Happy again

Found a water crossing on the Little Mulberry. Eric took this pic.

Will try to post a couple of vids later.

Was a fun ride and a great day!

Stopped by there a couple of weekends ago. Definitely the best food in AR I've ever had. Probably in the top 5 buffets I've ever had anywhere. And this was on a Sunday in AR......with a live band playing!!

K trail

Been a long spring, been chomping at the bit to get in a long ride. Was off Friday so off to Mena I go. Took my time heading down to Mena. Mostly side and Forest Service roads. Stopped by the Fourche Lafave River off of Hwy 28, debris high up in the trees and fence rows. The force of nature is awe inspiring and scary at the same time. A few weeks after the flood we were down helping with the clean up. A guy told us the estimated rain fall was 17 inches and a wall of water 35 feet high came through the narrowest point. wow.
The plan was a friend would come down Friday night, spent the night at Mena and hit the "k" trail Saturday morning. That's when I found my camera that I thought I'd left at home.

Took the long way to hit the southern end of the K trail just to check out this bridge again, After close inspection I wouldn't take anything to heavy.

We then got into Oklahoma and got on FS 6025 which is the Kiamichi "K"
trail. We would be on the same trail for the next 70 or so miles.

The trail is split into three sections divided by hwy 259, the Indian hwy and hwy 271. It also get progressively more difficult going from east to west. That's why it's so fun....if your into that type of thing.
Looking at the trail ahead. What's the worst that can happen ?

Ok, maybe... Brought lots of water for the ride. The just in case.

Time for a break anyway. Btw, this is what happens when you follow to close. Had to let my bike slide into a rut to keep from sliding back down the hill.

He was almost to fast for me to....catch...I mean help. my bad.

Slabbed it back through Clayton , Wilburton, Poteau, Ft. Smith and home.

I logged 501.4 miles for the weekend. It was 84 miles between Mena and Clayton. The "K" trail was 70 ish (forgot to write down the mileage). It took four hours to make the 84 miles. Bring plenty of water, I kept my tire pressure high. Lots of opportunities for a pinch flat. Might be timely info with the July camp outcoming up.

I'm planning on going to Mena for the camping trip. I think I'd like to try that route!

Oleary has planned on using the K trail. Will have to decide if we want to split into two groups. One continue taking the Western section, the other taking off after the middle section.

Great stuff Craig. Is where your bike napped the worst of the K trail or did you encounter more?

Luckily that wasn't my bike.. That was my evil friend who talked me into test riding the Husky in the first place bike....$$$$. He was in a wreck a few years ago. Just now getting serious back into it. The Husky did real well even with mediocre tires. The thing that keeps messing me up is thinking that I took the Beemer up the trail. I remember thinking it wasn't the smartest thing I've ever done. Guess I can add that to the list with the rest of them.
The west section of the K trail has a lot of sections like that.... plus silt, sippy holes and mega ruts.... something to love for everyone. Not un -doable but enough of a challange for me to make it interesting.
Hope Scribe don't dice me for my way lose use of syntax and grammer and puncuation oh, and spelling. "t"
