Weekend trip ideas from New York

I am going to be in New York on business for 2 weeks in August. When i have to do that, i rent a bike for the weekend.

So far, i have been up to the Adirondacks (great trip) and the Green Mountains. This time, i was thinking to go in the other direction.

Either to Ocean City in Maryland, or maybe into Philadelphia, into that park area west of Williamsburg.

As a non USA citizen, i have never been in any of those places, so i am wondering, what will be the more interesting ride in August?

I am normally taking this more as a "the ride is the destination" trip. 10-12 hours on the road is fine with me, i just want to experience the sights.

Thanks in advance for all opinions.

Frank

I'm biased because I grew up in this area but I would recommend Ithaca, Watkins Glen and the entire Finger Lakes region in Upstate NY.

Lakes, waterfalls, twisties, lots of small towns and TONS of personality.

Going south along he corridor is filled with people and suburbs. You are better off taking either a ride to western NY the Catskills, or western MA/CT/VT. Route 7 up in ct/ma is one of the prettiest roads around.

Hammondsport is an awesome little town (at the bottom of Keuka Lake), IIRC
Just be careful not to indulge on too much of the local wines...............
