That gave me a hint. I made a new list and Import came alive. Thanks for the help.
I don't recall having to do that before, but its been a few months since I imported.

That is a Folder, not a List....try highlighting a List.

The previous tracks I tried had been sent to me for an event.

So if you're using BC Win, the multiple tracks info screen works without having to "Join" the tracks as long as your tracks are "real", for lack of a better term.
Perhaps the tracks sent to you for an event did not have valid times associated with each point whereas your real tracks did, Take a look in your favorite editor and then perhaps use GPSBabel to add fake timestamps and try again.

Actually Unlisted Data is not a "List Folder". It is a "special" collection of data something akin to a "Smart List" on Mac-BC.

So I downloaded 4.2.1 on Windows tonight and tried it out. Much better than it used to be, but I still prefer Mapsource. I see more detail on Mapsource and haven't yet figured out a way in BC to edit a route by dragging it on the map to points that I want to add.

I usually create a route knowing only the starting and ending positions, then look at the generated route on my screens, then drag the route around to areas that look interesting.

Here's a link to a YouTube (non-Garmin) tutorial on Routing. Or, you could read the online Help for Routing:

Kudos

Dan, I just read this thread tonight and think your comments and advice to the group has been terrific. Thx much.

I am new to ADVrider, and to riding in general. I'll be in Salem and plan to attend your session on Sat morning. That is if I can find my way there with BC and my Zumo!!! But I've got 10 days before we leave. Cheers.

How can you make the basecamp to calculate the real shortest route?

On my route I have only start and end. All road types are allowed but there is no difference between fastest and shortest route. If I manually add waypoints I can easily take 10 % off the total length (600 km).

With waypoint in the middle shortest route gives me 518 km and fastest route 508 km. Can't understand this

Check your route avoidances?

On avoidances I have checked only U-turn, Car pool, Climbing path, Road block date and time and Hanging baskets. Don't know what those last two means, maybe Finnish translation is not the best one on this program.

I think it's fairly well known that "Hanging Baskets" are best avoided!
