He's on probation now. One more stupid move and they'll lock him up.

I was looking forward to a standing start, but they aborted it. I turned it on late, so I don't know why.

watching on tivo right now...

ok, here it is:

The much-anticipated standing start to the race never happened. Drivers were set for the unusual start — IndyCar’s first since 2008 — but it was aborted when Josef Newgarden’s car stalled on the grid.

IndyCar immediately changed to the normal rolling start, but the race didn’t get a green flag until Newgarden’s car was taken off the track after stalling again.

Yeah, a stall. Real shame. But there's always tomorrow. I don't understand why they can't parade them around and try it again.

That was an exciting race. Best street course ever?

Stupid race control once again.
That was not a double protection move by Franchitti, and if you watch the Dixon/Power scuffle, and Dixon did had the same amount of movement across the line. They should knock him back now too.

They said a second standing start would have overheated them, even though there was a complaint about getting only one sighting lap, and the cars hadn't warmed enough.

It was good to see Fat Matchett pee his pants on the drive around before the race.

The standing start on Sunday was a rousing success. Time to make the the thing at every non-oval. Still love the track, which I never say about a street course. But this one promotes passing. Scott Dixon made it a ho-jum affair on Sunday, though. Just too dominant. Nice to see Franchitti climb up to 4th after pitting on lap 1.

Three wins on the trot for Dixon, Ganassi and Honda. The last is the one that is really good to see. Just don't want one engine to dominate the series.

Qualifying in on NBS sports network right now.

Last in full-time driver points, Tag has been benched and replaced with a rookie. (Edit: And the rookie is off course and into the tire barrier)

Boost may be up for this road course. Just as I turned it on, they said something about 900 hp.

i thought the 900 hp was a reference to dario's track record set in a (900 hp) champ car. dixon thought that record might fall this weekend.

(i'm watching on tivo, so i don't know if that's come true yet.)

Thanks for posting. I'd almost forgotten about tomorrow's race and hadn't set my DVR. Myself, I don't care for IndyCar's qualifying format and usually don't watch it. How's the track?

I bet you're right. Like I said, I only heard the end of the conversation.

I have and coffee table book on the Indy 500 that my late mother bought for me. It says that Al Jr. won the 500 with an 1100 hp monster.
