Glad you enjoyed/endured the drums, turns out that not everything is bigger in the states ;-)

More cowbell

I've asked dmcd to post a link to the video he shot of the drums and flutes. I didn't know they were breaking in new lads and the concise group rhymn pattern would drift a bit. Alright it'd drift a lot so I asked one of the drummers how many parts were they playing. The guy just looked at me and dmcd cracked up cause it was supposed be a unison group effort.

BUT, here's the good stuff, his restored to riding condition(his words)BSA, with the original dealer brass plate. This one's a jewel

Great stuff. Right mixture of pictures, stories and self deprecating humor. Looking forward to the next installment.

Thanks much conchscooter, just read your fantastic blog about Asheland, North Carolina. Smooth editing, mouth watering pics and the kind of personal slant that makes me want to visit. Ya'll want a good, better than the travel mags article, hit his Keywest link.

Just after HUBB

I'll pick up this thread by enjoying a Guiness in Ballyconnell, in the Crow's Nest. Left the Irish HUBB and hour or so ago and I have to thank everybody there who made it a great weekend, the organizers, the presenters, the riders who were there, the chefs, bartenders, dogs, log ripping snorers, dancers and musicians. It felt like slipping into some long lost family member's parlor and having a lark with folks you havn't seen for ages. Jolly good show

Before I got there, tho, I abandoned DMcD and his cool collection of BSA shirts and headed back to Sligo get into proper mood for the event

Back to Maggie and Anne's vacationland castle for an evening cocktail, a castle/hotel outside of Collooney. It has been in the same family for 800 years. We walked the grounds as twilight hit, enjoying the art, horses, beautiful evening and the fact that we don't have to foot the bill for the maintenance.

A little Irish Hubb stuff

Before the Irish Hubb meet, tho, at the castle where we were stumbling around were a few elegant pieces from a friend of Maggies,

http://www.bettinaseitz.eu/biography.html

I rolled into the meet following the sophisticated map, only 3 little arrow signs on the road

the usual bribes, fourplicate forms, badge to keep track of you etc. Then they said if I had preregistered they would just give me my name tag and I could start enjoying the festivities, quit your whining

I initially thought these were bikes they had confiscated

The schedule of presenters

A pitch to pitch the tents

More later, but this weekend's event was a hoot. A bunch of friendlier folks would be hard to find, linked by our bike travel gusto and quest for info from hands on riders.

More HUbb

You know at this kind of meet up it's the usual sitting, talking and exchanging past experiences, opinions and wisdom. Kinda low key..

Until it's chow time. These two women provided a 6 star series of meals and caused some instant lines out the door, good, good food. Vegetarian included.

I find having a camera off your shoulder most of the time eases out hidden slices of personalities and tastes. Some are natural posers at heart

Some reveal long term plans as they chomp on a sandwich, like riding this bike around the world next year

Starting in Belgium, fueled by her favorite peanut butter and M&Ms combination. I shared my bread and butter pickles on peanut butter fix and got a long Ewwwwww

Heading to Nepal?

See this gentleman if you want to ride Enfield Bullets in the mountains.

http://www.freespiritadventure.com/

He does have a very cool logo, great guy.

These two combined for a presentation, Travels in Tibet and India, with a graphic account of altitude sickness, riding Bullets on a frespiritadventure tour

High energy

Very high energy guy, Liam McCabe, gave a presentation of his travels on his Africa Queen, which was at the meet. Great clips and story telling

I gotta get my mug in here, too. Sitting next to me is my friend from Malin Head, on tour with a serious hangover

These folks always had a smile

I'm heading south of Dublin now, heading to a slice of the coast she recommended, thanks again for the tips

One of the gents there started a free form photo thang site,

http://irishphotorally.com/year/2013

An excuse to bop around with a camera for kicks and giggles. Ok, gent is stretching it a bit, no pics of him cause there has to be a limit somewhere.

Hi, Ken

Some days I just take pics

No heavy lifting

Made a u-turn and came back for the texture of the pallets. Guy pulls up and asks, as I shoot the pic, 'can I help you?', I tell him I like the texture of his pallets and he says 'ahhhhh, I thought you were the competition', and drives off

Ireland has great gas nozzles, no accordion emission junk, super slow pumping for that final top off. Thanks, ya'll

Wouldn't want to lose track of Irish Pam

This shop has it all, if you filter out the reflections, fish lures, watches, jewelry. There has to be a story there

And these thatch roofs, I love em', but not sure if I'd want a fireplace

Dunlop

On the way to Dublin on the M-something road(which got me thinking of Lee Marvin's M Squad), I calculated that these appeared every 1.4 Km. but I could be wrong

This was the completely stopped traffic in Dublin, I pulled into a post office parking lot to cool the bike off and get my New York driving habits under control

The economy

I've noticed as I travel the mid sized towns are bustling with cars and people, lots of activity. Smaller towns seem to have more vacant storefronts, especially those relying on tourism. These were shot in Mullingar, it was packed
