GP One speculates a bit on the silly season.

I put 50/50 odds on Melandri ending up on the Factory Aprilia. It makes too much sense. It would also leave Laverty odd man out.

I thought the stated aim was to let them focus on scooters in emerging markets.

It's OK mate. We've got room for him here, same as Casey. 220 tonnes, that's a LOT of turnips!

Troy Bayliss participated in an Aus SBK test recently and posted second fastest time.

Quote:
With the restrictions placed upon eligibility for the test, Allerton speculated that Bayliss would indeed be on the grid for the 16 November $100,000 FX-500 event to be held at the same circuit. - See more at: http://www.cycleonline.com.au/2013/0....UMNECkW0.dpuf

That's not actually Aus Superbike, but Formula Extreme. The test (or certainly TB's appearance there..) was more to do with the end of season,$ winner take all, 500km Endurance Race. Run under FX rules, and also the race we talked about recently regarding Mat Mladin, who would be teaming up with Allerton on the Beemer.
TB was testing with long time privateer, and Ducati only rider Craig McMartin.Good mates, should be a good team. Lots of other fast riders will be there, like Brock Parks, Kevin Curtain....and if these guys are involved, who knows who could turn up during the Northern winter?
Looking forward to it. It'll turn into a 500km full on sprint, for sure!
Stay tuned.....

So is it a one off race? Sounds pretty cool, especially considering the interest it is drawing.

It sound Really cool! Any chance we could catch a vid feed state side?

If you can get Stoner interested it would be worth the flight to see it in person.

Yep, a one-off jobbie. One of the conditions of entry was that you had to participate in all ( I think) Formula Extreme rounds for the year. Which is a bit sad, cause there will be a lot of talent that won't be there.
It's a ridiculous situation here, with such a small population base, and massive distances between rounds, ( mega expense..), that we have two series competing against each other, with different rules. Just dumb.

Question for the rumor mongers: Any chance we'll see Josh Hayes as a wild-card entry at Laguna Seca in Sept.?
