From Germany almost to Kazachstan and back

Hi there...

My friend Damian and I (Christian) planned to drive from Germany to Kazachstan via Czech Republic --> Slovakia --> Ukraine --> Russia.
We drove from the 15th of June up to the 10 of July 2013. Unfortunately we didn`t reach Kazachstan. Two reasons for this:
1.) We needed more time for Czech Republic, Slovakia and the Ukraine. The Roads were much badder than expected.
2.) I got problems with my kidneys. I have to stay half a day in a hospital in Russia and I couldn`t drive for two and a half day.

The whole blog is written here:

So here some pics and some words :-)

Damian (left, BMW F650GS) and me (BMW R1200GS Adventure) at the start

First stop on a highway in Germany. YOu can see Damians tires at the back of his bike. Rhett on his Kawasaki1000 Zephyr escorted us on the first stage.

First night in a garden near to the czech boarder.

crossing the czech boarder

First campingsite in the Czech Republic. Good Beer :-)

The "Beinhaus" in Kostnice

The skulls and bones of over 40.000 bodies. Creepy......

From outside the "Beinhaus" doen't look very suspicious :-)

Entering Slovakia

We slept in Motels and Hotels. It was so cheap. No need to use a tent.

From Slovakia to Ukraine

Entering Ukraine

Private parkingslot behind a Hotel in Ukraine

More to come....

if you want.....

You say Slovakia was cheap, for my own budgeting can you give me an idea of accommodation prices?

Thank you

this looks great! I have done the Germany to Slovakia piece, but I did not have the Visas to enter the former Soviet Republics. I would love to hear more about your route, where you stayed, and of course, more pictures.

My brother lives down the street from "The Bone Church" in Prague, and I am hoping to get there someday. Ive driven past it but never gone in..

Happy trails!
