Hey Admiral,

The recent rides look really good, especially the Owyhee River area. I've seen that territory featured in quite a few ride reports. Seems vast, remote, and scenic. Perfect for exploring on the TW.

I like the pics when there is a combination of sunlight and stormy weather. Makes you feel as if you are almost riding along. Bad weather usually enhances my memories of a ride unless it just turns in to downright misery. Looks like you and the Mrs. were prepared.

Have fun out there.

Hey Admiral, great thread you have going here! I saw that you've seen mine as well - I guess we had the same idea to "blog" all our rides in one place (although since you started yours first, I'm the copy cat!). My mom likes to call it my "travelogue" to her friends and our relatives . Actually I think it just makes it easier for me that way, and is also a single place to have a quick trip down memory lane.

I think it's great you get to ride with your family sometimes! I also like the overall tenor of your reports. Great pictures, great scenery (I'd love to have that in my back yard!!!), and you're not trying to write a book with every picture!

Keep up the good work!

Happy Riding!

... (Note to anyone who visits here. Could you bring a flag and replace the tattered one here. I plan to
do it myself, but not sure when I'll get back).

I also wanted to thank you for requesting that the flag be replaced. Having served in the Air Force myself, I really get disgusted when I see flags that are left out too long like that.

Thanks!

Nice roads, every one of them! Good you could get around that downed tree. Looked bigger than you might be able to handle with the saw on your Swiss Army knife. Or I guess you could have tried to pull it with the low gearing on the mighty TW, but that not might have worked out too well either.

Keep riding. Hot in southern Utah now. You've got the weather! Head to the mountains!

Anyone willing to ride out and hoist Our Flag, I will pay for or send a new 3'x5' or 5'x8' American Flag to anyone willing to change the old worn and tattered one out.

Great offer JTBMC, but no need.

Last Friday, sscooter, Todd, Me and Georgie took off from Smiths Ferry to East Mtn Lookout and northern portion of East Mtn Way Trail. I'd done the longer southern trail last year. My original plan for this trip was to replace the American Flag, which I noticed was out of sorts on a trip I made up here about a month ago. To my surprise, the flag had already been replaced. I'm happy to see someone else cared about the flag.

The new flag someone else put up. I'm glad there are other folks who thought about replacing the flag and got'er done!

At the staging area - sscooter

and Todd on his TTR-230

Lunch break up on East Mtn Lookout. Georgie hoping for a morsel?

Fool Creek Trail off the East Mtn Way trail - I'll have to keep this one in mind for the future

Todd looks happy don't he?

Another break next to Clear Creek on Clear Creek rd

Georgie enjoying Clear Creek

And here's a video sscooter one of my riding partner's put together

Man, you guys have a lot of downed trees. Looks very different than the desert southwest. Nice ride.

Hi Admiral,
Nice ride report thread you have here! I don't hang out in this section much, and I just found this, and read the whole thing. Great reports, and you seem to photograph the interesting stuff, stuff that captures the essence of the ride that gives your reports flavor. I also like that you post up the routes you take so maybe someday we can find these places you visit.

I found a video of someone else who had ridden the trail. I think is was from a couple years ago. They were riding earlier in the season that year as there was some snow on the trail they had to go around. The riders also had to go around many many tree's. Since the video was from a couple years ago, I thought no problem. I think we got lucky as it looked like the trail was just cleared. It's steeper and thicker in many places which the video's show being rather flat. The video's can be deceptive at times. As many downed tree's as you saw, I don't think we'd have made it had it not been cleared. Wish we'd have had a slot canyon to go cool off in after the ride.

Thanks for the kind words. Read a while back you got your KLR repaired. Hope all is well with it. Probably more "road" comfy than the butterfly eh? One of my friends rode with you recently, Jim. I think you guys were doing some challenge points. He said it was fun. Take care.

Thanks for watching. Usually take about an hours worth of video and try to keep it around the 5 minute mark for posting. Glad you enjoyed, take care.
