You don't have to carry chains on that bit of road, but if he went the other way, that would have been different. And icier (is that a word?), its 500 metres higher.

It was slushy, not icey. No slipping anywhere. Lucky for us.
The biggest worry was that 'bulldozer blade' that we past on the way in to Geehi, and also on the way out.
Way too fast in the snow plough!

I went over Thredbo and Hotham on my RS two up in the last weekend of June. Just got to time it right.

When I was in uni, some of the blokes, and shielas, decided that it was appropriate to ride to the Intervarsity Races at Winton via the Snowys. The one liner that came out of that was that only Roothy would be breaking the law as his BM didn't have a chain fitted. It was funny back then.
I was 18. So lots of stuff was funny back then.:j ose

I see the Pooncarie get together has a new Saturday night venue - on the NSW Vic border. 1st weekend of November. Hmmm.

Finally back, after a month in the USA.

Almost embarrassed to say this:
but I found the 'yanks' far more courteous on the roads than here in Oz. (New York City, was different, but that's NYC)

Even with me driving on the other side and having panic attacks at every roundabout, I still found driving there fantastic, and didn't once feel the Road-rage building.

Why?

I think; the roads are not over-policed, I did see plenty of police on the roads, but generally they weren't hiding. Sitting there with the red/blue flashers going, tended to remind everyone that they were about and to behave.
If the road had a posted speed limit of 65mph, it seemed that everyone sat on 75-80mph, as long as the traffic flowed nicely with out anyone doing stupid sh*t, the state troopers didn't even flinch.
Regarding speed camera's I think the only places that you may have a picture taken, was in the 'work-zones' for roadworks... fair enough!

Obviously the roads are bigger and better than here; however, even on the back roads, things seemed to flow alot smoother.

Turning right on a red-light after stopping, was brilliant (Same as a left turn on a red, if signage permits), 4-way stop signs.... first car at intersection goes first, then the second and so on (could never see this working here, but it worked well there)

and everyone was happy to let you merge/change lanes with or without blinkers.

Say's something about a revenue raising system here, and our farked up roads.

Your observations about our 'drivers' is just another reason to avoid the main roads. Which I failed to do in the past few months.

Good to see you are both present and accounted for.

Ok. No one took the nibble of a ride to the NSW/Vic border on the first weekend of November.

How about a back roads overnighter at Wakefield Park for the Post Classic races on 31st Aug/ 1 September? Yes, that is father's day. Not something I am terribly interested in.
I've only just seen it on my calendar, so not looked at any details.
I have specific interest in going for a look - buying leathers/boots this week.

TTT 24-25 of August. I do like the ride in from mittagong, but I am missing opening up the gs on Riverina hard packed sand roads.

I can't make that one as I already have a ride planned for that weekend and none of you are invited . Kel and i are going away on the XJ for a few days for our Anniversary .

I am interested in the TTT though. I haven't been before so it is on my to do list. Will just have to see if I can swap my on call as I am rostered on for that weekend.
Is anyone else thinking of going?

Mate, it looks a lot like no one is thinking of anything at this stage.

I couldn't do the TTT as I am working that weekend. My bank account has developed an echo! Must be the money I keep taking out of it.

Leathers & boots soon.

I also have a long ride in planning for September / October. Tiger time.

Anything else has to be viewed in light of the established plans.

If you are looking for a ride destination, as of tomorrow I own (and operate) the Muse Gallery at the Milawa Cheese factory complex. Drop in and say G'day if you are in the vicinity. My weekends are now Tuesday & Wednesday so will be doing a lot of solo riding I guess.
