San Jose BMW Grand reopening after 37 years in the old location

After over 37 years in the old San Jose post Office.....with no parking, at last a grand reopening in the new location just a few blocks away. A move from 1886 West San Carlos to 1990 West San Carlos at the south east corner of West San Carlos and Bascom.

A few of the pics of the new place.

Located on a very busy corner, Bascomb and West San Carlos, with excellent visibility from the street.

the proper signage is not up yet.

Inside the show room.

Need a new Schuberth....

used bikes are shown in a gated compound.

The service dept. The new service dept is bigger than the entire old store of these past 37 years. There will be a total of 6 stations with each of the 6 techs having two lifts. Still a lot of work to do in the service dept, more lifts are on the way, computer setups at each station, pull down air at each station, etc.

Service writers station.

The shop entrance is thru the large open door in the back of the pic, and after all these years, a real parking lot.

Coffee bar, entrance to the used bike area and entrance to the parts and accessories area on the left early that morning.

As near as can be figured, there were close to 1,000 people in attendance thru out the day. From about 9:30 in the morning to about 6 in the evening there were around 300 to 400 people there at all times, well beyond anyone's expectation. There is still a lot of work to do of which installing the new sign up front is but one.

The "Looks" totally belie the actual cost. The build out was by Chris and his family. The fancy fixtures and trimming was from HP when Apple bought the local HP campus, an entire 40' trailer truck of mega hi dollar, lights, desks, signs, partitions, filing systems, intercoms, doors, switch covers and anything else one could think of for $1,000.00. They let Chris, Willie and several of the techs in to the soon to be demolished HP Facilities to get what ever they wanted. they totally filled up a 40 ' enclosed tractor trailer.

A total hands on project by Chris, his family and the shops employees. to a person, that place is the poster boy for happy and enthused employees.
