R90S engine colour..... Which black??????

Thinking of repainting the cylinders on the 90S. Anyone know if the correct O.E. black was a flat or satin colour??

I used a satin black powdercoat on my 90s replica. It looks good. Original would have been either satin or gloss, not Matt

I'd say it was molested, only the jugs are supposed to be black.

Any good brand name industrial enamel will do you proud. A few heat and cool cycles and it will be as hard as any powder coat. Becomes very much the same thing.

For sure, just the cylinder fins. Get that paint off the engine and tranny case if you can because that is certainly a molestation to even the most casual and subdued purist. If the pits were not sealed prior to the paint, likely impossible to do. It means virutally nothing at all as to function. Custom is as custom does.

yup have gone through this once already. BMW didn't offer engine in black. Butler & Smith must have modded this R90S.

this R90S was received from BMW dealership in Tulsa, OK exactly as shown ...
