Headlight Replacement Bulb For R100GSPD??

A bit of research shows that a good replacement for the stock H4 headlight bulb may be the 70/65W Osram Plus 50, or the 85/80W Osram Plus 50.

What have you tried and what worked best for you???

I use the PIAA 14561 H4 Plasma Ion bulb. A bit yellowish at 2500K but good for foul weather. Wattage is the usual 60/55w but is claimed to throw the equivalent of 110/100w.

I really liked my gold tinted bulb, but got a ticket from the MN State Patrol. Now I am changing almost everything to HID. I now look forward to night driving because I can see so much. Went with the 6000k 55w through ddmtunning.com , Good Luck...

I've just fitted a 90% brighter bulb...made absoulutly f**k all difference It would be nice to find a better solution than my current spotlight setup.

Rob, you meant there was no difference? I imagine just changing out the bulb would be a disappointment. I had to get a relayed H4 wiring harness from Eastern Beaver to "see the light".

I'll have to look into this. I'm with Rob Farmer - I've tried a few different bulbs and really it's all shit and (not so bright) shinola. Thanks for the tip!

I solved the bulb problem: I don't ride in the dark. Where I live, unless it's an absolute emergency, riding at night means a much higher chance of plowing into a deer, elk, or worse. I try to avoid if possible.

Try the Hi/lo H4 auto setup (2 bulbs, relay, 2 ballasts, etc) from autohidguy on fleabay. I did the conversion on my KLR and it was great...bypasses total stock harness except for high/low switching relay. Going to get another set up for my newly acquired '95 R100GS. Put SLIM ballasts in the ordering notes...

I think the plus 90% refers to price , I couldn't tell the difference in the light either.

I need to replace my headlight bulb on my 93 GS, but it has been a few years since I was inside the fairing and can't how much you NEED to strip down to just swap the headlamp bulb? Is it chinese fingers or is it just easiest to pull of windshield and one side blinker and fairing?

Yup. And +80% for hype. They put a coating on the bulb which filters blue (I believe). Their line is that the resulting light color gives you the visibility of a higher wattage bulb. "optical equivalent, blah, blah..."

Not.

I'm running a 100/130 watt H4 w/ the standard /7 reflector, phenolic bulb holder with heatsink, gutted headlight bucket and relays on fat marine wire with their own fuses. Does light up your world.

leave the standard bulb in. I had a bigger bulb and helped shag the on/off switch. try these http://www.visionxwholesale.com/2-so...e-atv-package/
the kit supplies the whole shooting match. I got the euros.
bloody great. 10 watts each a side .75 amps email me if ya want pics of them fitted bellsj@xtra.co.nz

Fitting big bulbs without relays and heavy wire will cook all sorts of things.

The LEDs are nice, but at 900 lumens they put out less than a 55 watt halogen. For $35 you can get some cheap halogen driving lights that will do the same thing. Of course the LED draw very little juice so you can run more of them. But they are very expensive so that get to be a very expensive proposition, fast.

These give 8200 lumens from 90 watts. That's two and a half times what my 130watt high beam puts out. (3250 lumens)
