While PWRCRZR made us coffee in the middle of the road...

...we strolled up and got a shot of the sign...

They ended up opening the gate about 20 minutes early.

SCS waiting for the sun...

The fog would blow past leaving a brief window to get a shot and all you'd hear is, "Click, click, click, click..." with a few "Oooooh, ahhh"s thrown in there.

The fog added some interesting drama...

Rails of the Cog...

After the crowd thins...

...

...

...

...

We took the long way home via Kennebunkport and met this group for lunch...

Great to see Chris back in the game!

Expect the worse. You never know what it'll do. The wind is always an amplifier of the temperatures/moisture levels.

We got lucky. 40-50°. A little breezy by Mt. Washington standards but manageable. Have seen much worse up there.

Was wondering if the TDM owner was an inmate here.

Great morning up there, wasn't it?

Yeah… started to say hello at one point up top when I thought the fella in the brown Adv style jacket might be EC (and now see it was). Hiya guys

It was truly magical, from the early rumble of bikes and stones crunching under foot to chilled voices and the final steps leading up wooden stairs in cloud so thick you couldn't even initially see the lights of the visitors center. "Oh, there's a visitors center and coffee, bathroom, wind break from the chill… nice." The rolling clouds were so dense at times they blocked all indication of morning light. Then, the cloud would blow past and "Wow" a full clear view of the light and shadow playing out along the horizon.

Woj and I brought along chairs which made for pretty lux outdoor seating.

The orb makes its first appearance through the clouds... yeah its down there when at 6200+ feet.

Did a run of the route up to Mt Washington the other day with my eleven year old, Jacob, and camped out at Timberland. The weather was awesome! The routing looks good for those who are planning on meeting up either at my house or Fiddleheads to go up together. I ran Sandwich Notch Rd and Tripoli and both are in good shape.... felt comfortable with two up on the FJR so I would think that unless someone just is adamantly opposed to dirt roads, then I would plan on taking both of those roads, as long as it hasn't been raining hard the night before or for the ride up.

Dave at Timberland was awesome! I see while EvilClown likes to go there. And, if you check in and mention that you found him on ADV, he'll give you a 10% discount!

Was nice and warm and sunny at the bottom of the hill, at the top it was 55 and in/out of the clouds with a thirty mph breeze. Hoping the weather cooperates!

This is a quick response to acknowledge your post, señor Clown, I will have a full posting on Monday. Nutshell version goes that the camping is confirmed and reserved for two sites at Timberland, it appears to be about seven riders total at last tally, and the routing for the group ride up for those who wish to partake is suitable for two up on street bikes meaning mainly paved roads with the exception of Sandwich Notch and Tripoli roads. Kickstands up at Fiddleheads cafe at 0900.

More in for to come, stay tuned

Ok, so Timberland camp sites reserved are 97 and 98. Here is what the route looks like for those travelling up together from either my place or to meet up at Fiddleheads in Hancock. PM me if you need my address for the starting point. If you meet at my house, its leaving the driveway at 0715. If you want to meet at Fiddleheads, get there for breakfast early with a full tank of gas and kickstands up at 0900. If you need a .gpx file, PM me with your email address and I'll send it to you or else give me a stupid quick fix answer on how the hell to get it from Mapsource and post it here to share! Still haven't figured that one out YET.

From the Kanc, we'll be taking Bear Notch Rd up to 302 then over and up 16 to get to the campground. I hope to arrive in time to eat at Saladino's FIRST, then go to the campground. This is because Saladino's is not open too late :(
