Question Las Vegas: Motorcycle Storage?

Two friends and I are departing from various places in Canada (Toronto, Winnipeg, & Calgary) and making our way to the west coast via North Dakota, Montana, Washington, Oregon, and California. We intend to end up in Las Vegas by the end of September and are planning to store our bikes in a rental unit so we can fly down and ride during the winter.

My question: does anyone know of a rental storage facility that a) allows motorcycles and b) is somewhat close to LAS? We'll likely be storing them until April or May.

I've done some research on storage units and while the three bikes could fit in a small unit (e.g. 10x10), it appears that many companies will only allow vehicles in specific units (e.g. 10x30 units designed for cars and RVs).

Thanks for any advice!

Did you end up finding anything good? I'm headed there next week myself.

Motorcycle Storage in Las Vegas, NV

Should have posted this much earlier...

3 of us stored our bikes in Las Vegas in Sep 2012 until Feb 2013, when we moved them to Norco, CA. I had my 2010 KTM 990 Adv, buddies had a BMW K1200 and Yamaha Roadliner 1850. Since then, they've sold their bikes and both bought 2014 KTM 1190 Adventures. My pics of my offroad rides (without them) convinced them they needed different bikes!

We ended up in a Cubesmart storage unit, located about 20 minutes from the airport. It wasn't located in a great area of the city but seemed secure enough, had security cameras, etc. We originally thought this would just be a short term solution as we weren't impressed with the area but it actually worked out quite well so we kept them there for a while - we got to know the local manager and he moved us to a unit right by the office and even ran an extension cord in the rafters for us in order to power our trickle chargers (it was unit #9).

Location of storage unit:

Cubesmart
2645 South Nellis Blvd
Las Vegas, Nevada
89121

The local manager is (was?) Jason Patterson (but I think they rotate them). To call him: 1-702-431-1704 => tell him that the other bikers from Canada that stored their bikes there recommended him to you. Might get you power for trickle chargers?

Also, they have an obligation to match prices. Tell them that you found a price at the Las Vegas Public Storage or National Storage of a 10x20 of $80-90/month or something like that. We started in a 10x15 for $95/month (I think $10 of that was for insurance but we never really figured out if the bikes would actually be covered because they were vehicles). We got moved to the 10x20 and paid the exact same price. They might also tell you to book it online (I think you can get a free month), then they can adjust/move after. 10x15 worked fine for 3 bikes, 10x20 even better (lot's of room to actually work on bikes, leave extra stuff, even park a rental car in the unit while you're riding.)

Note that we didn't ask for power => that was a bonus. We didn't rent a "vehicle" unit either. Note that our plan was to look at putting a few solar panel trickle chargers on the bikes but we never got around to this.

I ended up installing a LiFePO battery and simply disconnected it when I parked the bike to fly home: never had a problem firing up the bike again and never had to use a charger.

Also note that there are new storage places closer to the airport. I know that a new Public Storage opened at 1400 E Tropicana Ave and an Extra Space Storage at 3008 E Sunset Rd. Just make sure you have drive-up access.

I'm heading back to Vegas from Ontario in a couple of weeks on my new 1190R and will likely be storing it there for a few months before moving it to California.

If anyone else has experience with a better/different storage place closer to airport, please share...

Or, if anyone has any experience in storing bikes near LAX (Los Angeles), PSP (Palm Springs), or SAN (San Diego International) airports, please post!
