Hey guys! I need some help with route planning. I'm coming up in 3-4 weeks to either Frankfort or Bardstown for a quick work trip on my GSA. I'll have time for scenic paved or easy gravel/dirt but nothing too time consuming.

Are there any roads, highways, forest service roads that y'all can give me that I can add to me route that may be considered a "don't miss' ride. I know Bardstown and Frankfort aren't right by each other but I won't know which till just before the trip and I'm trying to get my routes built.

Old Frankfort Pike between Frankfort and Lexington. Full canopy over the road; beautiful horsey vistas. You can turn off a little early and ride Pisgah Pike between Old Frankfort and US 60. Labrot and Graham (home of Woodford Reserve) is nearby and worth a visit.

Ok, found them. 1681 Old Fankfort Pike and 1967 Pisgah Pike. Yep, I'm heading up for that very reason. I'm buying a barrel of whisky from either Buffalo Trace, Elijah Craig or Woodford. Maybe from two of the three distilleries but hope to get the time to visit Woodford even if I don't buy the barrel. Thank goodness, not hauling it back home.

Any more? The more the merrier. There is a chance I'll only get as far as Bardstown so anything in that area will also be appreciated.

Frankfort is only another hour up the road. You would then have the options of Woodford Res., Buffalo Trace, Four Roses, Old Grandad/Jim Beam.

Stop off in Bardstown and pick up US Hwy 62 to Versailles. The stretch from Lawrenceburg to Versailles across the Tyrone bridge is uber-cool.

You have a gps that accepts tracks?

I've a good one that starts in Bardstown, cuts east to Harrodsburg, then over to Herrington lake, north to Camp Nelson and Wilmore to Versailles. Take the previously mentioned Pisgah Pike to Frankfort Pike. Good loop of central Kentucky.

Might want to have lunch at Wallace's Station. Below is a link to a Food Network review of it. It is on Old Frankfort Pike.

Highway 68 between Shakertown (another great place to eat, and spend the night) and Highway 33 to Versailles is a great ride. Lots of curves. You will cross the Ky river at a section called "The Palasades".

Cool, thanks! If my route ends up near a meal time, I'll make sure and hit Wallace's Station. That sounds good!

Guess I'll have to eat at Wallace sometime. Every time I go that way there's a line out the door. I keep hoping to sneak in when they aren't so busy.

I had forgotten the 68 trek; it is a fun one.

You will love Woodford, nice place! If you are coming from the south towards Bardstown I always love 49 from Loretta, kinda desolate. Also, from Frankfort to the north 421 is a great twisty route. Enjoy Kentucky, home of beautiful horses and fast women!

Come on now Mark, I slept on a picnic table and woke up to wood bees.
