Panniers

Fitted some nice cheap second hand as new pannier racks today, they are the KTM Branded ones. I think you used to order them on power parts, light weight ones but very solid fitted, I'm only fitting to carry light bags

Power socket

Just trying to find a decent power socket to attach to the ACC1 outlet on my 690 Enduro. Anybody run anything decent and do you run it on the bars or mounted somewhere?

MCS make a nice all weather one, I have one on my 690 mounted in behind headlight, and used the handlebar mount for the one on my WRF

Thumbs down Forks twisted?

Gday fullas and fullaresseses.
Any one had any dramas with 690 forks twisting? 2013 model. 600kms old.....
Only one very minor lay down so far and twisted toward the disk side so i'm thinking braking?? I dunno.
Just looking at it with the naked eye, so to speak. Havnt checked the bolt tensions or anything yet , just wonderin?

every time I dump the bike in the woods I twist the forks. I pick the bike up, turn the bars to the appropriate side, and give the side of the rim a swift kick with my boot and that usually realigns things well enough. Worst case you have to loosen the clamp bolts and realign everything by hand but thats not even that hard to do. When the bike goes down the energy has to go somewhere so it twists the forks. not a big deal unless they twisted because you hit something like a car and compromised their integrity.

As above, no big deal unless a component is itself bent or twisted ...

But that's pretty hard to do ...

You might have faith in a bit of well-timed boot-work, but I'd bugger something up pretty quickly if I made a habit of kicking the bike ...

Very quick and easy to loosen the clamp bolts and straighten it up ...

Be careful not to overtighten the pinch bolts or you will squash the fork tube causing sticky suspension

Rear tail light assembly

Hi guys
I have just picked up a new 690 and have started ordering a few bits and pieces to get it ready for a few up and coming adventures.
One thing I want to replace is the big ADR tail light assembly as I figure it won't
last three minutes in the bush and it's also ugly!!
I want to get something simular to what I have on my enduro bike. Small and compact with small indicators up high and out the way.
I looked at the Euro style assembly on the Rally-Raid website which look great but they want 90 Euro shipping!!
What are you guys fitting to your 690's and where do I get one?
I want to get rid of the stock one before it removes itself!

The sicass racing led tail light is $50 and works well. Its not the whole tail assembly though...just a light.

Just remove the extension piece on the tail and run the risk with the feds.

I like what you have done. Might just get a cheap set of small aftermarket indicators and mount them on my rear rack or on the plastics next to the brake light somewhere.

Mne is the same as Andy`s (El Ponkin) setup .
Only thing different I installed the LED number plate bolts as I commute a lot on mine as well,, have been pulled over once for a breath test and Mr Plod said it was fine although not legal to the letter of the law as the number plate should still be in vertical position

My indicators were $50 from Supercheap, mounted in the top fender plus a "no load" flasher from this mob, $20 plus $6 postage.

A mate sent through these pics the other day.
He's developing a tank and fairing setup for the 690.
The finish is a little rough but i thinks thats because its the first set of test tanks out of the mold.





I like this bit where they've molded in space for a carbon Kevlar tank protector.
