Edit: I saw lots of ice on Sat morning, but didn't have any moments on ice itself. Sux to have some bins, perhaps next year we could take a spray can of flouro paint to warn others
You mean looking out for other riders safety when on a group ride? What are you nuts....don't you realise its an every man for himself world?

A request to everyone that rode the MMMMM so that it may long continue: Please send a quick email to DOC expressing your concern that the Napier Taupo hwy access point for the Whirinaki Forest Park has been shut off, mention that you have quite recently enjoyed visiting the Whirinaki via Pohokura Rd & the Waipunga public access easement. Email DOC Taupo: tnat@doc.govt.nz

The closure, by Transit NZ, of this bridge came as a surprise to DOC, as it did to Timberlands (both who have been blamed for the gates!) & DOC are keen to reopen access to the park from that side. A few emails of support will greatly aid their case. While we can currently ride around the gates there is no guarantee that Transit won't send in a bigger digger & make it totally impassable in the future. It is quite ridiculous that a bridge that was happily carrying fully loaded logging trucks as of a few months back is now deemed unsafe for even light vehicles.

Cheers
Clint

Trail riding with the kids now. Using the 525. Still able to make it look legal for an adv ride should the opportunity arise. Boys are both on KTM 65's and Daughter has a YZ80.

Went past the Waipunga road entry today and happy to report the gate has been removed.

Yep, to their credit the guys at DOC have got stuck in & sorted this out. I'm not sure if the gate down at the bridge is open at the moment but they have some maintenance on the bridge organised for late October & after that the access will be definitely be open for vehicles under 10 tonne.

Cheers
