Alberta Trunk Road

This is a track for those unfamiliar to the Alberta Trunk road. It Runs from Highway 3 in the south at Coleman, Alberta to Highway 40, west of Longview. Then it starts again from Highway 1A East of Morley (west of Cochrane, Alberta) and runs north to Highway 16 (Yellowhead), west of Nordegg, AB. From there it runs north to Hinton Alberta. Gas stops are very few and most only carry regular, so take Octane boost if you need premium.

I have marked all the gas stops that I know of, that are on the route.

Use caution north of Nordegg as there is mining, logging, and large oilfield equipment on that stretch.

I just sent it. When they come in they are usually zipped. Open the zip file and drag them into your garmin file folder. Basecamp seems to like this method better. If that doesn't work, download it off the dualsport maps site. It comes in zipped with both the klm and gpx files.

This would be a great help but I cant seem to open it. Was planning on a EDM - Rocky House - Nordegg - up forest trunk and back. How far between fuel stops on that route? Likely nothing between rocky and cadomin?

Have you imported the track into Basecamp? I can't see why it would not work for you, if you do. As for fuel, Nordegg has fuel, Cadomin might, then Hinton. Its been awhile since I last did this, but my range is about 250-270 before I hit reserve with the stock tanks on my 990. I carry another 5.5 liters in a fuel pack giving me another 100 km range. If your bike can do similar range you will have no problems. I fueled at Nordegg, then Hinton on the last run. about 192 km between.

Maybe this will help; http://dualsportmaps.com/?link=110376

Closures.

Currently large sections are closed or inaccessible due to flood damage.

North section at Ram Falls Campground, bridge is damaged and blocked.

South Section between 40 and 532 suffered significant damage and is not expected to re-open until June of 2014.
Check Alberta 511 website for current info.
