Jim, here are some updated numbers, we measured this today:

A) Front, unloaded (wheel can spin): 0mm (reference point)
B) Front, with bike only: 36mm sag
C) Front, with bike + rider: 45mm sag

At the front, when she gets on the bike it only sags 9mm more than with just bike weight.

D) Rear, unloaded (wheel can spin): 0mm (reference point)
E) Rear, with bike only: 16mm
F) Rear, with bike + rider: 32mm

To me it looks like the spring rates are off. Especially at the front. My wife didn't have her helmet on, but was otherwise in full gear.

According to BMW the bike has 120mm front suspension travel and 140mm at the rear. The absolute percentages in rider sag look okay (could maybe be a bit more at the rear), but the difference between bike and bike+rider is what surprises me a bit.

What do you think? Still think 20% softer spring will do the trick (with proper preload)?

Thanks for the Measuremants! Mr Cug

Yes!

Even more than 20% is required almost 25% to get much closer

-No problem

but we'll leave a litle sommi'n-sommi'n for the weight of the bike, etc.

We can fine tune when we go ahead after your other inventory gets gone!

thanks !
