You're half right... It's $1600 for tanks that don't fit right!

Having said that, I'm so happy with mine that they'll never come off...

I'm interested in this myself as I to have a 04 GO!!!!!!!!!!!. I'd imagine that a black tank would look best. Its a pity they can't be painted.

They are very durable as well. The fit and finish might not be good but I'm real happy with mine

Color matching Safari Tanks to Blue Go tank.

Here's an idea for color matching Safari Tanks to any model KTM... ( if I wasn't so cheap/ spread thin on my current bike prep for the KTM rally, I'd have rocked it in Colorado).

Buy any color tank you want, take them to a very savvy/ confident motorcycle seat maker and have them buy perforated lined vinyl in a matching swatch. Some makers can have a custom color match done on a bolt of fabric. And they can stitch
a logo on the tank cover to match OEM decal... even the "GO!!!" lettering.

I had one of these back in the 80's on an early Honda 600 dual sport from a company called CEET Products as an off the shelf "Tank Cover". It lasted 8 years and wore great.

But, like I said... I've been tied up on other mods right now to bother... And I swear I'll do it if I ever spring for a set of Safaris any time soon.

UV protection... Maintain the shape from serious warping. Probably would insulate away some heat... Kerp the pores of the tanks from dirt filling in. And prevent the clear tanks from turning green.

Don't tempt me!

Justgastanks (U.S. Distributor no matter who you order from) hasn't ordered any black tanks this year so I gave up after 4 months and went with the Kriega ADV setup.

I can now haul 4 gallons of fuel and 30 liters of stuff on my 690 and in less then 5 minutes swap the platform to my 990, remove the (2) 15 liter bags and I can now haul 8 gallons of extra fuel for a grand total of 15 gallons since I also have the 2.5 Gal Neduro tank and for a lot less then the Safari.

It's a pretty trick setup.

On the other hand, I can't imagine vinyl holding up well at all to all the brush that my tanks encounter , much less the ground.

I think you'd be quite surprised... Yet this is very hypothetical. But you'll get no argument from most Europeans... They've been "protecting" their tanks for many years. I still see the Africa Twin covers all the time.

As far as dropping your bike... Can't help much there... Hehe.

I got the following reply from Aqualine when I inquired about blue Safari tanks for my 990 Adv Dakar Edition:

It is possible to paint the tanks (to varying degrees of success). I have attached a photo of a tank that has been painted by a customer in Europe.

It would be best to inquire at a reputable automotive paint/body shop to confirm suitable products for polyethylene plastic and get some expert advice.

Regards, Wayne.

Im still waiting to see but so far the Dinoc on My Tanks is holding up great. Its been installed for three weeks now. Its not perforated but hasn't bubbled up anywhere that I can see.

Its a Carbon fiber Look vinyl. Seems pretty good so far. I just ordered more so I can do the entire tank.
Didn't realize Dinoc was vinyl... my bad on earlier posts. This could be it... Carbon look tank...

Because sadly, people spent a lot of time painting or wrapping... for naught.
