Hotel-Restaurant La Val, Ruèras Switzerland

Hotel-Restaurant La Val
Via Alpsu 211, 7189 Tujetsch, Switzerland

After an unnerving crossing of the Grimsel Pass by motorbike during a random July snowstorm I was ready to sleep under a bridge. I found Hotel La Val via the Booking.com app and it was well rated, so I programmed the GPS and pointed the bike in towards the hotel.

Hotel La Val was so homey and the owner so inviting and warm that I didn't bother to see the room beforehand, I just checked in. He was kind enough to lock my bike in his personal garage so it would be secure for the night.

The hotel felt like being a guest in someone's home, with comfortable beds and old-world Swiss style everywhere. There was a shower and sink in the room and, like many home-to-hotel conversions, a loo in the corridor. Everything was spotlessly clean (the Swiss way, the owner assured me). The bed was comfortable and the room had a balcony with a stunning view of the valley.

The next morning I was treated (by the hotelier's wife) to a full Swiss breakfast before embarking on a long journey to Salzburg.

A wonderful experience all round and highly recommended.

Gisela and Margarete are such warm and welcoming hosts - even let me park the motorbike by their garden shed so it would be secure for the night. And the next morning we had a personal send off as we heading back toward London. Gisela is an amazing cook - the meal (fried chicken with chips and a German-style salad) was to die for.

Stopped off here for a few days last summer. Ros and John make you feel welcome from the start. First beer free on the house. With their amazing knowledge of the local area. For bikers the roads are almost too wonderful for words – John or Wilf will happily download 55 plus specifically created routes for Garmin & TomTom Sat Navs this will allow you to make the most of your time and if you don’t use a GPS they have tanktop printouts to use in conjunction with their route notes and a good old fashioned map!

More than just a place to stay!

Hallo from the little but wonderful biking country of Wales on the edge of England!

For our Bikers Rest, see www.bike-stay.com (from 27.1.14) or www.ride-adventure.co.uk/bikers_rest.html

As well as accommodation, Colin and I, Marianne, can supply bikes and take you on a tour of Wales. This will visit remote areas with few people, so is not a city break type of holiday! If you like solitude, views and wildlife, it is for you. It can be combined with other activities, such as white water rafting, horse riding or rally car driving. www.ride-adventure.co.uk/holiday.html

If you prefer to explore Wales on your own, our accommodation makes an excellent central base, and we can provide maps and route advice.

If you want something different, we also go trail riding, for which we provide bikes and clothing. www.trailrides-wales.com

Feeling Chuffed!

Last year Trip Advisor Ranked us No 1 in Ramsau and No 2 in Austria. At the time we thought it was a bit OTT but we must be doing something right.

Well this year we appear to have gone one better;

If you need a place to camp, a place to repair your bike, someone to have a beer with, stop off at motofeirme.
We are fast becoming the "to go place" in Ireland.
15 min's from the ferry to France and on the route from Rosslare port to the famous "ring of Kerry"
Guided tours available for groups of 3 and over, bike shop available, cold beer in the fridge, camping and company

http://takodacamping.webs.com/ Paul and Maria could possibly be the friendliest hosts out there and in a beautiful part of the UK. Paul undertakes some testing trips for charity on his Honda so knows what is needed by the fly splattered biker.
