Considering I'm turning 6K @ 80MPH with stock sprocket, what's a 15 tooth sprocket RPM going to be? Anyone...

15 tooth

I just went to 15 tooth a couple days ago - no issues on the Hiway. Feels better in 1st - the bike should come this way.

rule of thumb is around 500rpm gain with one front tooth.

If I was going to do significant off road I would do the 15 front for sure. Most likely change the rear as well. Most significant off road change you can make.

On my baby Beemer (thumper) I went down one in front and up two in back. Made a huge difference in the rough stuff.

I never said that you will have "issues on the highway". I said that its not better. You spin about 500rpm higher for the same speed. When that speed is 80+mph, your gas mileage will suffer.
I don't ride trails with my XC. Only dirt roads. Some people call them trails, I call them roads. I only use 1st gear to start moving. I ride in 3rd & 4th gear with the 16th.

I figure the cost of the sprocket and increased fuel consumption out weighs the cost of replacing the clutch from having to slip it so much on trails. Seems like I'm riding technical trails quite a bit

15 tooth

After riding the WBDR, Oregon, California, two weeks in Death Valley 1 week in Moab then COBDR the clutch went completely - would not move. 1000$ to have a clutch kit overnighted to Silverton CO. It had blown on Hurricane Pass 12000 feet up - even Triumph said I needed to go down one tooth on the front. Silverton is an excellent place to be stranded for a couple days.

Amen to that!

I was fortunate enough to get a comped weekend at Silverton Mt. in 2004. Sphincter tingling lines, huge pow drops, one of my best days skiing!

Think I'll order that sprocket today. Any recommendations on who to get one from?

I find the 17 tooth just fine down here on the flat lands, but would switch to a 15 for the mountain passes. All depends on where you are going.

bahhh!! Nobody is ever stranded in Silverton. You can just take the train out to Durango.

I remember a discussion where it was thought that the street triple spline and first gear may be interchangeable for a lower first on the tiger. Anyone ever heard any more about this?
