Abs

Procedure is to start bike then press ABS button until it flashes, release button.
ABS button will now flash and ABS will be disabled until the engine is shut off or dies.
When not disabled ABS button goes dark after a few minutes of riding.

Are you sure yours is re-enabling?

It is a PIA when you kill the motor and restart because you now need to go thru the procedure all over.

positive. i was doing some very steep decents and i turned the abs off. for a couple hundred feet i could lock the rear wheel up, then it started pulsing again.

the first time i figured i didnt disable it, but it has done the same thing on me 4 separate times.

yes, i was thinking of cutting then switching the cable, but have not done it yet. i have a ride this sat where i will most likely have to disable the abs, so i wont have time to cut it and cleanly splice in a switch.

Can you just remove the ABS fuse or rig it to a toggle switch ?

Yeah... I was thinking the same thing. I find the ABS more of a pain than anything, but I guess on pavement it has its uses. I definitely like that you can disable it...unlike the R.

you can space the rear sensor out a bit and kill it that way. i do a lot of mixed surface rides, so i will most likely put in a switch.

most common method is to cut/splice the rear sensor wire, so the speedo is not affected.

Yes, experienced the same on 2011. Did the "disabling switch" mod...works great now!

I'll guess that when you disable ABS and then skid the back on dirt that you kill the motor because the rear locks w/o clutch. It restarts when you let off the brake. You may not even notice, but enough to reset the ABS. Recluse EXP and I never have to think about clutching while braking again.

umm, no. after 30 years of riding, i think i can figure out if i stall a motor or not.

downhill, clutch in, lock up the rear a few times, then abs re-enables and i am unable to lock the rear brake again. engine never skipped a beat. happened a few times. i'm perplexed.

yesterday i did a bunch of muddy singletrack, and was able to finally disable to abs and not have it re-enable. OMG, i love this bike so much more now that i can pivot it at will... rear tires were lasting 800 miles, NOW what will they last?!?

it works now as advertised! i dunno, i didnt do anything differently. mebbie since my cooling fan was on for an hour, something "clicked"? voodoo? satanic worship?

i still plan to splice in a switch, but i need to do some riding first!
