Good Lord, you look like ya gotta be made out of money to play there. Amazing what throwing a ton of money at a project will do. Serious Eye Candy, thanks for taking us along. Did you get to see the artificial Palm Island thing - amazing engineering.

See you later today. I am awake, packed up and heading to the Airport to carry on to Cape Town. My bike was in JoBurg yesterday awaiting flight to Cape Town.

Good grief - it's changed a bit in the 16 years since I was there last!
Hope you got to the Spice souk too - the smells there are divine!
Cape Town's climate is like Melbourne's - if you can remember that far back! - and here, spring definitely sprung this weekend.
Looking vicariously forward to the next leg of your epic journey!
Cheers from us all.

It has sure changed since I was there in 1990. Abu Dhabi was more glamorous back then.

Africa calling

"Africa Calling" was a PM I received while I was still in South America Riding!
CapeKLR and I have been messaging for some time about riding in South Africa. The Power of ADV and now it is about to happen!

Was at Dubai airport at 5:30 Am to check in.

When I checked in, had only a few moments of Panic as they asked if I had a Visa for South Africa. I had checked and as US citizen, I just got it at the inbound border (but did I read things wrong ) ... But the Agent was a bit confused until he brought over a supervisor. All Good. Whew!

Flight was almost 10 hours.

Arrived Cape Town at 4:15 in Afternoon!

I am very excited! It was cool arriving to my 7th Continent, and the 6th that I have ridden a motorbike on!!

And CapeKLR was there to meet me at the airport !! Africa Calling indeed! Feels great to be here. My bike is still enroute and was in JoBurg yesterday, and hopefully to arrive Cape Town today, and I should be able to go pick it up tomorrow!

Talking Welcome to Africa

Welcome to your 7th continent Radioman.

I am in Johannesburg and if there is anything you need, hot dinner, garage to work on your bike or a place to crash for a night or two, we will be more than happy to host you in exchange for some stories.

I have some experience traveling in "deepest darkest Africa" so will be more than willing to help out where I can.

Enjoy the diversity we have to offer here in South Africa, our culture and beautiful country to explore.
Ride safe and have a great time.

Cheers

Hey Mark

Glad to hear you have arrived safely in Cape Town

I thought I was jealous of all the exciting places you've been visiting and things you've been doing, but now you've gone and kicked it up a notch!! I loved my visit to South Africa and definitely want to get back there and explore on a motorbike. Until then, ride on, and I shall live vicariously through your RR

Travel safe and keep enjoying the adventure,

TM and JM
