Aaaarrrggh, I can't believe I missed it. I was working in the yard finally enjoying the cool, cool, cool of the evening after cooking all day and suddenly realized that it was 7:30. Bummer.
It's off to Steamboat Springs on Sunday for the KTM Rally. See you all next month.

Ok, if we're doing lame excuses here, we had unexpected company drop by and I forgot all about this until early this morning.

Next time!?

I dashed home, pulled out my armor, then decided to catch a quick Castle episode before I took off...then dozed off and my family decided not to awaken me, so I awakened on my own at 7:10 or so . I am made of clay...BUT...let's do it again so we can all make up for our laziness, lol.

Colorado bound

Dadayama I'm leaving for Colorado tomorrow too! We're going to be riding single track around South Fork, Creed and Del Norte through next Tuesday, so we should get some great riding in.

I'll send you a text.

tracks

Whitey- you got any tracks on where you're going? I'd like to find some new areas to ride up there.

Sprockets and Chains

Hey All...

I just got back from COLORADO

Had a rear wheel bearing go out and possibly ruined my wheel, so i'll give Woody's Wheel Works a call on Monday.

I also need to replace my chain and sprockets, and before i order something on the internet i thought i would check and see if there is somewhere around town that i could buy them locally. So is there any place you would recommend?

Sure has been quiet around here since i've been gone. Anyone doing any riding?

Pedro over and out

I wondered how you were doing on your trip, with all the rain reported. Did you manage to pull this one off without getting a flat?
I can't begin to ride again until sometime in October, maybe November. It's really hard staying off the bike.

Your wheel is probably fine. My rear bearings went out not long ago, really out. I really thought my hub was toast. Just tapped the old races out, (well more to it than that) the hub was fine, tapped in new bearings and seals and all's fine.

The left side bearing was GONE, nothing but the tore up race left. I had to grind what was left of the race out with a Dremal tool, took about 30 minutes. Probably could have done it a quicker. Grind very carefully because the hub itself is soft. Very soft compared to the bearing race. But not really that tough of a job.

The other two bearings were not so bad, I did just tap them out.

edit:
I just saw your wheel pictures on the other thread, looks about like mine did, I think my spacer sleeve was not quite so bad though, might need a new one of those, just a standard BMW part.

Got my new bearings and seals at Kaman on Will Rogers Parkway.

Thinking back and more detail, I didn't just grind that bad race down, I used one of those little cutoff wheels for the Dremal, cut through the race at as close to a right angle as I could in two places, when it got down real close to the hub under the race the pressure was relieved enough so I could ease it out in two pieces.

I did that not very long before we did that group OAT ride.
