Recommendations for the Vosges

Hi all - Planning on a very short trip (2 nights) to the Vosges in the next couple of weeks. I've never been before so would very much welcome advice on where to stay (recommended villages/towns and accopmmodation) and must ride roads. Thanks

It's a mountainous (not Alps high) region in eastern France, near Strasbourg. Known for having lots of twisties.

Must ride is "Route des Cretes".
Nice are Rocher de Dabo and mountain Donon (ancient temple on top, 45min walking) in Vosges du Nord, Ballon d' Alsace in the south.
On the Rote des Cretes do not miss the detour to Hohneck and you may walk to Gazon du Faing (alpine scenery) and to Grand Ballon (seeing the alps during high visibility weather), 20min each.
There are a lot of guesthouses along the road, even hotels like Le Sommet Du Hohneck on its very top and at ski resort Le Markstein.

If you have 2 full days in this area you might want to visit Schwarzwald too. Much higher road density and challenging roads (Kandel, Schauinsland). The Kandel road climbs 850m altitude difference (road top ca. 1200m) with only 10km road. That's like alpine. Schauinsland is a traditional race track (during weekends closed for bikers).

Do you love wine? Are you a foodie? So you might like
LAmi Fritz or Hotel Chants des oiseaux .

The twisties starts just behind the Hotel in Ottrott.
