Stick with that one, even at $3750.
Mine isn't beat by a long shot, but it's been years since it looked that clean.

If that one has seen much dirt, I'd be surprised.

DAMN nice find, and a more than great price too if you ask me. Amazing it's that stock!

Not mine, but a pretty good deal on a low mile bike.

Hillbilly: The SXC was an all-dirt platform. It's got a Baja Designs kit on it.

Thought it looked like a BD light.
Looks small on this bike tho. Needs one of Sanjoh's dual sport fairings on it.

They made so many variations of the LC4 I can't keep them straight.

Nice Find

Good luck with your 2002 purchase. I have a 2000 that puts a grin on my face every time I take it out for a spin. Street or trail.

Picked up a '99 620 SX silencer at the flea market (p/n 583.05.079.100), but discovered it does not have a spark arrestor as it was advertised by the seller. It looks like KTM offered a bolt-on spark arrestor for this silencer (p/n 580.05.079.550) but it's no longer made/offered.

This leaves me with a couple options: replace the Hoover and try to get a refund for the 620 muffler.. and keep saving for something else, or modify the 620 muffler so that it becomes spark arrested. The silencer I bought was (I think) last used in 1999 on the 620 and 540. The end is flat - no "spigot" or tip like with the newer 625 SXC silencers. There *is* a turbine tucked in the elbow of the silencer, but no screen.

So... what's the cheapest way of making this silencer USFS legal?

I'm running now -03 640 with Pro Circuit headers, Akra slip, open air box and FCR 41 MX
Setup now in carb is 175-MJ, 48-IJ about 1 round open, OBEKR needle second clip from the top (5# pos.?)

So incomprehensible problem is that when twisting thorttle fast to about 1/4 or 1/3 it cutsdown and bangs from exhaust #1 so is this bog?
Opening the throttle quickly will lean most carbs. I would check the idle circuit. From the little I know, deceleration pops usually mean lean idle mixture too. That's where I would investigate. The FCR has an accelerator pump that should richen things when cracking open the throttle. The accelerator pump is another possible place to check. It could also be an air leak between the carb and head. Don't forget the float level.

The krizman (or what ever its called) spark arrestor is a centrifugal type that uses the turbine with no screen. It also might have a bolt on the bottom you remove to blow carbon out of it. Usually it is also stamped us forest service approved but I have seen them without the stamp. When they test them at a race they just stick a stick in the end and see if something stops it. I would run the one with the turbine in it.

Don't think what I have is that sophisticated. The silencer is stamped with "KTM MX" and nothing else. I'll see if I can snap a pic before I had out this morning.

It just keeps getting better! Inmate Matpoc said I should ride the 640 down to RI while I'm in the area so he can fit a pre-jetted TM40 to the bike.
