Laugh Honda Grom

I've been waiting for this for a couple months. I started buying stuff for it before I had it. I got a black one, but I got the white plastics from Thailand, along with a new can. A US company had the tail tidy. The mirrors are KTM folders from Motoscience. I have a YSS shock on the way. The OEM can had to be 10lbs and the rear fender at least 5.

It's really fun. There are big bore kits already out up to 200cc. When they get the bugs out, I think I'm going to go with a 150 upgrade.

So, you almost have it down to 200lb curb now?

I'm not worried about the weight of the bike. I'm trying to get ME down to 200 curb. 170 curb is my goal.

What's it like to ride. I know you said it's fun but how about some feedback. I am very curios about these machines.

I copied what I put into one of the Grom forums I'm on.

The brakes were spongy at first, but I was doing hard braking all day and they are bedding in nicely.

The seat is hard, but not uncomfortably so. I think my 207lbs will bend it to my will, and it should soften up.

I had it up to 56 on the flat, normal riding position. I think it will do better as it breaks in.

They Tyga is not annoying at all. There was some decel popping the first few minutes, but I think the ECU has compensated. I'm going to add some air filter buttons in the air box at some point.

Cagers think I'm a scooter, and they were surprised I came up on them so quickly. At least 3 cars started to pull out in front of me, thinking they had time, I guess.

The bike is slow off the line, but once it gets going, is pretty quick. I would like to change the gearing, but reading about it makes my head explode. It is a long time between shifting.

Around town, the bike is happy in 3rd gear and 45mph. It feels like it starts to bog down, if I shift into 4th. You really need a long straight to get it into 4th.

Big motorcycles will not give me "the wave"

The scooter set will give me "the honk"

The kids at Cycle Gear think my bike is Dope! (That's good, right?)

I'm very pleased with the bike. I just put an LED license plate light in it that I had laying around. I still have to install the tail light flasher, and I want to add some LED driving lights to it at some point soon. It's a small bike and it's obvious the drivers aren't expecting a scooter size bike to be so quick.

I'm sure I've forgotten something. Sorry for the uber long post.

I seem to remember seeing some guy got like 20hp out of one of those motors when it was all tricked out. That would be fun!

A high SM fender could probably be trimmed/adapted pretty easily, and 12" knobbies ARE available.

I'd want to fab a skid.

Cool. I expect to see a course setup at the speedway.

I know there was at least one circle of guys in Vegas that converted their yards in to moto tracks for the micro thumpers. It looked like a blast to get together once a week to race it out in someone's backyards.
