Ricochet Off Road Skid Plate

Ricochet Off Road Skid Plate

Just sharing the recent installation of the Ricochet Off Road Skid Plate. Instructions included were not very helpful yet, the install is common sense. Installation was a breeze, using the stock skid plate rubber bushings. Overall the finish is good, protection seems adequate. However the cat touches the plate... rode yesterday and did not see or felt any ill effect. Overall, it looks nice, plenty of room to access the oil drain plug. It will require removal to replace the oil filter.

Ricochet installed on factory lowered 2013 F700GS using the BMW oem rubber mounts with a washer added between the mount and oil pan and another between the mount and skid-plate. The washers provided a small amount of additional clearance. Still a close fit but works perfectly and looks very 'integrated' with the bike. See photos here.

So, does yours touch the cat as well or do the washers ensure that it doesn't?

Thanks. I need to get some washers...

Did your rubber mounts get twisted when tightening the skid plate? Mine sure did...

They did. I just gave them a turn back with the wrench the best I could.

Skid plate

I got the same skid plate on my 09 found a burn mark (gouge) at the front close to the exhaust during my last oil change. Wish they have a little access door for the filter and yes the rubber mount do twist on my as well.
