Ride to the Flags Memorial Ride - 2013

Hello all,

Ride to the Flags is a charity ride that helps fund the White Heat Foundation; they support First Responders and Wounded Veterans.

The ride is this Saturday, 14 September and starts at Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu and ends at Pepperdine University where they have set up the Wave of the Flags Memorial, the memorial is a display of 2,977 American Flags for those who lost their lives on 9/11.

I am going to attend with my Son two up on my 990 and thought others on here might be interested. Here is a link to the registration page and flyer.

This was an interesting event, first time I have ever did the BIG group parade ride thing, not really my thing but my Son loved it.

Saw one ADV stickered bike.

Don't know what the bike count was but it was a lot.

A few pretty cool tribute cars were there.

Saw the end of one small crash a couple bikes from me, will look at video and see if I got it or not.

I was there, too. No sticker on the scooter but you can kind of see the ADV patch on my left shoulder

I hadn't heard about the wreck. Hope everyone's ok!

Don't think it was so much a crash, more like a drop, happened when everybody was parking at the Flags Memorial.
We're you a traffic control person?

yep - About 20 or so of us rode ahead of the group with the LEOs, blocked intersections so everyone could ride through unimpeded, then leap-frogged ahead to do it again.

It really was.

About 3,000 flags snapping in the coastal breeze against a clear blue sky is a sight to behold! (not my photo)

Thanks for the video link, FZ. Wow... red scooter + yellow vest and helmet = plenty visible

As for helping out, it was my privilege. Plus, it was fun. Hope you both enjoyed the day.

I remember seeing your son and being proud of him for gearing up even though it was a warm day.

I was there!

I was there. I am one of the volunteers in charge of Pt Mugu parking and the initial take off. I do have an ADV sticker, but it's the "Ride the World" one and doesn't stick out.

VStrom 100, Adventure.
