Hey Eric, when you are carring 62ltrs of fuel and in total including rider I reckon I was up near 350-400KG's total... what is a 1kg chair to keep your bum out of the sand???????

Joe

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO - what a ride!"

fuel water

I used 46ltrs of fuel but carried a total 62lts from Mt Dare to Birdsvillle, including a few runs up Big Red just for shits and giggles!!!!!! If I went again I will still carry ten liters of fuel over and above the 47ltr safari tanks, which were a god send. Something cool about having the largest fuel capacity..... I used approximately 10ltrs of water but carried 16ltrs... ate mostly tuna and 2 minute noodles, with pocket bread and dried Fruit. We each took a bottle of stones Green Ginger wine with use to keep us warm.... Our sleeping bags weren't quite warm enough for the minus 2 degrees C!!!!! hmmmm stones green ginger..... I will finish the leg from Birdsville to home real soon!!!

That trip you looks epic!!!

i just purchased my dream bike and in 3 weeks ill be riding it, R1200GS 2012 fully loaded with the adventure bags and BMW Motard GPS. I planning to do first a loop around this country, and possibly Alaka in june the following summer. i haven't taken my dreams further then that. Although the bike is capable of world touring and it be waste not to travel further then then my country. Expense would be the only thing that would stop me.

here is my RR from trip number two in the simpson.. then i had another go and completed a double crossing in 2012, but have not done a Ride Report for this one as I did a 7 page spread for an Australian Adventure mag - Adventure+Action mag... and I had to sign some legal documents saying I wouldn't put the story up anywhere. else..

awesome thread guys.. making me jealous..

I'm curious though, if you had to do it with half the fuel capacity, was their fuel stops that you could make it too?

Also, how good do you have to be to do the finke? :)
